				 | For me, Thunderbird has always worked perfectly - though I still prefer just using webmail.

				 | I have been using thunderbird for a while and have never really had any troubles with it. The only time it has ever gotten a little sluggish is when I had my trash folder full with over 100K emails. I deleted them and all was well again. |

				 | Thunderbird pisess me off as there's 2 issues I have with it... if you have any accounts that get a TON of spam, then it can take a long time to log into that server and start fetching the emails. The second issue is a known "bug" that's existed for a long time and they just don't seem to be able to fix it... It appears to have to do with filters. My setup has 5 different servers I log into, dozens of email adresses and I've set up dozens of filters. Thunderbird will "hack" every so often when downloading emails and say you need to restart and repair the inbox. This makes it extremely frustrating when you're trying to get a lot of emails as you have to click for each one and if you cancel, the junk mail filter won't run. It has something to do with filters so if you're not going to use them heavily, or if you're willing to delete all of them and re-enter them when this problem starts occuring, then you should be ok. Oh.. One more issue... There appears to be an issue with compacting folders every so often but I think it only crops up when the other bug occurs. You'll sometimes have folders that don't appear to have anything in them, or have an empty subject. If you compact the folders, everything then shows up properly but sometimes you have to quit and restart TB. I still prefer it to outlook though. |
