How much revenue is google losing by listing tube sites....
Does google realize how much revenue they have lost by listing free for all tube sites at the top for most popular porn search terms?
The quality of their search traffic for adult/porn has gone to shit as a result. How did this get past them? Pretty sure porn terms were a big money maker for google. ![]()

Google lists tubes on top because that's what surfers want. The tube doesn't show because it's a tube, it shows up because users, use them - longer, return more, more links shared, etc.
If the surfers get want they want from Google, they are happy and will return to Google for more, so Google is doing exactly what it was designed to do.

I see your point but it's not an easy issue.
If tubes are consider legal (because of dmca, or courts, or where they are hosted or whatever) it must be hard for google to justify removing them based on making less money. Following the same logic they would start controling search results to maximize revenue and the whole model in which they built the company (give the surfer/user what he wants) would be jeopardized. |

I'm sure google will get by with the current results. It's us that loose from this, not google.

Money talks at the end of the day, once they catch on, you'll see some sites disappear from the top listings.
They want people to come to google and click on an ad.

They want people to come back to Google for many years to come. If Google starts delivering sub-optimal results, people will switch to Bing and other search engines. Obviously, that would hurt Google far more than losing out on a few ad dollars from porn sites.

They don't really have a choice... tubes are the choice of the user.. if they start showing shit the user don't like people will start using another search engine.

What they may lose in adult revenue is chump change. Providing search results people want is what matters.

Do you see anyone buying adwords for porn sites anymore? Very few.
I own 5 programs and see that amount of inbound affiliate traffic from adwords has reduced in the last year. I also talk to my affiliates who report the quality of traffic from google and adwords is no longer that productive. And why would it be productive anymore? People are presented with free now before anything else. If millions in lost revenue is chump change then I must be missing something..stock holders want google to be collecting every penny they can.

Google killed the easy profits of adwords in adult, long before Tubes came around. Porn is chump change... it's a tiny tiny tiny slice of the global Internet traffic. That is a serious pain in the ass, that has complaints, etc. And adword wise, it's harder to make money in mainstream adwords, even on buy action words, than ever before. I haven't found any niche that I can just toss up an affiliate link and clean house, in years. But that doesn't mean you can't make money with affiliate products. Paysites don't normally get listed on power words because the surfer, doesn't actually want to see them. People, don't like to be sold.. period. If every time you clicked a link, you had to pay for something.. how long would you continue to click that link? You make it sound like, "free" is what has made the profits drop. When the truth is, you and the affiliates are still slinging the same old shit, the same old way, thinking the same old people, are going to buy your same old shit, given to them the same old way.

Google is the worst offender, worse than tube sites, most of the first page of results is all links to get porn content for free and the smart surfers know all they have to do to find their favorite paysite or model's content is to enter "paysitename +rapidshare"

so to make money for ad words on porn terms they should give users listings they don't really want making themselves less popular across the board. |

They loose money on the fact that tubes cannot do adsense... the sites they would have had there that are legal can do adsense.... hence they probably lose a couple million a day in adwords money...
Numbers include all illegal sites like torrents for a massive number of mainstream keywords... |

i think they lose a lot of money.. i used to spend a shitload on those spots before.. and im sure there were people spending way more than me...this was 2004-2006..
so imagine if the tubes werent there.. they would have had more webmasters spreadin all across those other keywords and even holding down all the major keywords, which are slightly irrelevant now cos tube-rhed and the other selfish mofos are ranking for.

Google doesn't show relevant results on major keywords considering those positions are taken by massive link buyers.

Not all tubes buy links.. and you can find sites with more links to them, listed under the tube. Backlink count isn't the end all factor for powerful rankings. Plenty of sites with much lower backlinks listed above sites with an amazing amount of backlinks.

![]() I had to chuckle at the absurdity of this thread - Google lists search results based on thier proprietary formula (its top secret by the way) - it takes into account domain age, bounce rate, average page views and other factors and delivers results based according to what a GOOD site is - based on WHAT PEOPLE WANT.. The most rediculous thing about the false assumptions stated in this thread is the notion that google should somehow treat porn sites, or even one faction of porn sites (tubes) differently than the rest of the billions of websites on the net for the sake of profit. The integrity of the google formula, and the equal treatment of all websites in rankings is the corner stone of what makes google one of the worlds largest and most successful companies.
ALSO google doesnt allow porn sites or any adult related websites into the adsense system (erotic bikini stuff is even banned) obvioulsy they could be making a lot of money if they relaxed this ban - AND they would quickly degrade themselves and become polluted by the thousands of scam-hack-bad-porn webmasters that would abuse thier system in a heartbeat. Why would Google risk alienating thier core customers (mainstream) to get into the dirt with porn webmasters to try to make a cheap buck - besides mainstream DWARFS the porn industry in traffic and ad revenue by a factor of hundreds to one. Anyone who thinks google is missing the boat with porn or is somehow an "offender" to the porn industry obviously has no clue how google actually works. By the way I'm not a cheerleader for google - I'm really pissed about some of the privacy concerns and the MONUMENTAL potential for abuse if it fell into the wrong hands (Murdock) or if thier management decided to start using thier database in the very scary ways they COULD use it IF all they cared about was profit. - I use http://scroogle.org (a google scraper) whenever possible.

The quality of the links are more impotant than the number, but the tube's dominance in the serps is based on 99% bought links. Their "on page" SEO is all really bad. The only advantage they have SERP wise on another site is a very low bounce rate. For such a know it all, I can't beieve how ofter you are so wrong. ![]() |
