Personally, I use Unique Article Wizard... I pay an american friend of mine to do quality articles and spins through the system - the extra couple of bucks I save using the DP or WF forums just aren't worth the lower quality. The system then submits the article for you to ~1,000 sites, and voila, you've got a bunch of links... more below.

3) Social Bookmarking... I personally use a software (Bookmarking Demon) to social bookmark the article sites that accepted the articles I submitted. I don't like to use the bookmarking demon software on the site I want to SEO myself. I'm not sure if Google will ever call those types of links "spammy", and I don't want to penalize my site. So instead, I just use it for the sites linking to mine

4) If I'm not so lazy, or I'm willing to pay a bit more, I'll create accounts / blogs on a number of different free sites, e.g. blogspot.com, wordpress.com, squidoo.com, hubpages and the others that you can find around. I'll take a version of the spun articles above, and place them on those sites, interlink all of the sites, and voila! I've got more links coming in.

This technique is pretty effective for an initial setup. If you do it on a bunch of domains, and create your own link network, I've found it easy to start ranking pretty quickly.

After that, if you want to take it to the next level, you create an "autoblog" on each domain in your network. This pulls scraped content in, and gets you additional content on the site. You can just continue doing this, creating articles, adding spun "unique content" to all of your different sites etc.

I generally will have one site that this all links back to at the end, that gives me the real value.

I also do / have done SEO for other people in the past. this is the solution I've used. It's not rocket science, and I'm not scared to share, because I currently work for a large company that already does the SEO and sales, and I don't really need the extra income...

I charge(d) a minimum of $250/month, all the way up to $5k for this stuff, and it's ridiculously cheap (compared to what clients are getting from other people).

@apartmentsturkey the whole "quality links" concept is waay overrated. I can show you sites that have "garbage links", that are ranking for extremely competitive keywords... No "quality links" in site (pun intended).

Be careful to keep it borderline fine, try to make sure you are not "polluting the internet" with crap just to get links, and you should be fine.
