Whats the low down buying google adwords?
I started a campaign today for some terms I know get SE type ins.
Set my bid at 1 cent and no impressions or hits yet. The campaign is active, paid for, but nothing going on yet. Set it up about 4 hours ago... should I just wait for a few days, is the bid price to low, any recommendations for getting traffic this route? |

it'll stop and Google will say "Please bid 25 cents or more to activate this campaign..."
and you thought it was going to be easy money.... LOL. Google is the one laughing all the way to the bank with adult adword terms.

I'll buy what I need to... I'm sure there is some people on here with some knowledge of what it takes to get the impressions going... my thought is 1 cent is not activating it. But was hoping to get a couple responses from peeps with a little know how... ya know |

As far as I know the click will cost you at least $2-3 if you're targeting adult keywords.

At 1 penny per click you're getting what you pay for.
Keep going higher until you're happy with the results. I was talking to one guy at the bar the other day. He sells photoshop using google adwords. He tells me that sometimes he's bidding 2.00 per click and it's converting 1:10 Once you figure out the ratios of trials to rebill. You can figure out your #'s and work it.

there is a lot more into AdWords than there appears. a lot of times you will have to start off bidding way more than you should. as well, your keywords/ads could be in review for "up to 72 hours" which means after 3 days, you have to get on their case to get things up and running.
if you have any questions, hit me up on IM, ill help you out. I run AdWords/Yahoo/MSN campaigns all day long and know a lot more than most do, so let me know if you want some advice.

You can't get 1 cent keywords...
First build a unique landing page for every keyword/ad combo you do. Then set your min bid to $5 (it won't cost you that much unless you quality score is jacked), once about $20 is burnt you can match your cpc to match what Google is giving it to you for. Say it's $1.00, then after another block of clicks it will be 91 cents, you can drop this until you drop off the page. Now to move down the slots, simply bid lower.. and you can gauge how much people are bidding for each slot. You may find slots 1-3 are at a war, while 4 is chillin with a low bid letting you slip in. If the 10th guy is bidding 25 cents, you will never make the list if you bid under. If the top slot is bidding $3 for #1, you will have to bid over to beat them or have a better quality score.

Man, Adwords is a killer.. Not sure about other peoples experience, but anything under the #1 spot (the spot above organic listings) is fucking worthless. This is from my own trials though, and I am by no means an expert, I know for a fact others are doing quite well. I know the guys that run porninspector.com are running mad ppc campaigns ;]
By the way, if anyone can help me out and let me know the secret of getting that spot above the natural listings on Adwords I would love to have a chat with you. I will pay for this info. |

If their search tool is any indication, then min bid would have to be at least 5 cents, and for most terms getting a decent amount of traffic, you should expect to pay at least 20-30 cents per click (more obviously for higher valued traffic like mortgage/insurance/meso/etc.).
