Traffic Question..Strange indeed ...Please enlighten

Just when you think you have been in the biz long enough and seen it all, you realize you don't know jack....

Can anybody tell me how its possible to be receiving clicks from a site that does not have your links on it??

Spent money on some ads months ago... Ads have been taken down months ago, yet as of today I am seeing fresh clicks from the site, and my ad is no where to be found.

Is it chicanery I ask?? Could they not have ever sent real clicks even when my ads were up??

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

there are many ways for this to happen, would have to see the site to know more, although still might be a mystery. could be they have a very old cache of the site.

Never thought of the old cache possibility. I just know from being scammed on so many traffic purchases over the years, nothing would surprise me....even a dead campaign still sending in clicks months later.

I have purchased ads on sites where my ad never even showed up and was receiving hundreds of clicks from an ad that was never displayed.

The Cache explanation seems like it has merit, however the amount of clicks coming in are equivalent to when the ad was live.... that raises suspicion...anyways thanks for the input

If it was a small amount of clicks I'd say cache related, plus google/se caches. But it if it's same as when you bought that is weird.
