I've been thinking about picking up a XBox 360 but I have had a number of people tell me they burn up and get the red ring of death. I am looking for some feedback from anyone on here, bad or good.

I think the new ones being sold now are better than they were before.

That is what I like to hear. I love the graphics on the 360 and figured they must have had something in the works to fix the problem.

I got the red ring of death once, they fixed it, that was over a year ago, no problems since

It was 3 issues. One was the heatsink/pipe for the GPU was not up to the task. Second, the GPU ran too hot. Third, the solder that holds the GPU to the mainboard was too brittle and would crack after a few heat cycles.

All have been fixed with the new models that are on the shelves now. Of course, it could still crap out on you like anything can, but their warranty turn around is pretty good.

That is good to hear. I am going to pick one up in the morning.

get the xbox live account for sure,
get Left4Dead, RockBand, Madden, and be prepared to get useless!

First time having one in the house this week, and just realized have to mess around getting a wifi adapter and can't just plug and play one of the ones I have laying around that are usb grr. Oh well another 70 to 100.00. Should of been built in. I find that lame..

I was over to my buddies playing Call of Duty, World at War live the other day and it was awesome! I can see how someone could spend hours on there.

Call of Duty is the best. New one coming out this fall that is going to be INSANE!!!

Customized kill streaks. Make sure to watch the very end..lol.

You mean like the PS3? MS says it because when new standards come around the 360 can always be up to date. Well of course by the time wirless N becomes standard it'll be time for the XBOX 720 anyways. And of course if wi-fi was built in then they couldn't charge you $100 for the current wi-fi add-on and another $100 for the wireless N add-on whenever that comes out. The Wii and 360 may have be "cheaper" than the PS3 upfront in the long run both MS and Nitendo nickle and dime you to death and you end up paying much more than a PS3.

If you get one, make sure to get the extended warrnaty with Microsoft. I had two give me the red-ring of death and each time I got a brand new one. I also got an external fan now so no problems over a year now.

COD4 is bad ass, I can play that till my eyes burn. I can't wait till COD4 2 comes out in November. I better get some Visine.

My xbox360 finally got the ring of death last night. I got mine 3 days after xbox360 in 2005 first came out. We keep are house at 70 and never had a issue. Needless to say last night was a sad sad night

Man, I got my 360 about 2 years ago and never had a problem with it... I can tell you it's better than Sony PS3 for sure... But the only good thing that PS3 got it's Killzone 2 and God of War, that is unbelievable games! But we got a lot of great titles. You can buy it without fear.

BUffalo makes a Wifi extender that you can plug the 360 into. It's less than the Microsoft wifi dongle and actually works a bit better.

I was looking some last night and saw linksys and belkin have one as well, but both were 65.00 or more I just find it rather gay that a usb linksys one I have here won't even show up. i have both ps3 and xbox 360, i will tell u now i use the 360 10 times more than the ps3. honestly its the online community that does it for me when firing up my xbox. my ps3 is great dont get me wrong, they are just 2 different systems. I purchased an elite, so i would not have any of the problems mentioned above, it seems those systems are the best and have the least amount or problems.

i mainly bougnt my ps3 for the bluray player and a couple games not available on xbox

Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants think about that
