[Mobile Sample] Playboys POD 'Picture of the Day'

Here is a sample that I built using playboys POD. It's just to bad there is no mobile sites or mobile sign up pages.

Please sample this on your device and let me know if you encounter any issues........

http://mobileshit.com/pbm/index.php

This site will remain unfinished till the day playboy decides to go mobile.

The sample is using tera-wurfl as well as WURFL image Adaption script to resize images based on screen resolution. The Sample is also built using HAWHAW(HTML and WML Hybrid Adapted Webserver)

You can find out more about HAWHAW at http://hawhaw.de

See how it looks at READY.MOBI

5000 devices is a lot. wouldn't blackberry be in that list? or is this just an error?

It sounds like you are browsing using "opera-mini" This is a third party app, I don't know any Blackberry devices that come with Opera mobile or opera-mini pre-installed as a native browser.

Just because WURFL says it is a wii does not mean that it is an error, WURFL detection uses what we call "FALL BACK" devices that are the generic form of the browser. In this case wii is the generic form of operamini.

If you can could you post a screen shot so I could better determine what is happening,

correct opera-mini. but i assumed that since it did a device check it would detect more than just the browser and/or would account for third party browsers, especially opera mini since it is one of the better ones

i'll see about posting a screenshot but not much to see really. the POTD pages look fine and fit well. only thing that seemed off was that it said "devicename: nintendo wii "

As long as the image resizes and fits your screen then its working...Keep in mind that using third party browsers like opera mini may or may not provide all the device capabilities because its only a generic browser and is a J2ME application that can be installed on any Java Device.

The one thing that is good about Opera-Mini is that users are able to install it on a shitty device like a Moto razr V3 and still be able to browse non mobile optimized sites. Only thing is memory issues as well as storage capacity.
