Does Anyone Here Bike For Exercise

I've been looking to pick up a cross trail bike lately to vary my working out. Not looking for a race bike or anything. Just something to take out and 'mash it up' (lol) as John at my local bike store said.

Any recommendations? I have checked out a few bikes by Specialized. Any other suggestions? Any reliable stores online to order from?

Thanks... mash it up, lol...

I am a Bianchi fan
http://www.bianchiusa.com/09-bicycle...b-leisure.html

Most important part is a stiff frame so you dont waste to much power on flex. Make sure its long enough, so you dont limit your lungcapacity by bending your body.

if you arent in shape, make sure you get a wide bike saddle. You can always buy a slim one later. Your butt will thank you

I havent had to great experiance with GT or Cannondale. The GT I have tried were to heavy and the Cannondale dident last long. I dont know if the components they use here in Europe are different.

Hand made TI frame. I personnaly own 2 TI frames, and there is nothing better. The only problem, it cost over 6k.

I order online from the 3 sites.

I ride a mid-grade Raleigh Matterhorn on the Niagara trails (mostly for photography).

What's your budget? There is so much out there including Craig's List for something to "mash up". I have a mountain bike in my garage; full carbon, Shimano XTR components, etc. I paid $5,000.00 for it a few years ago. Since, I don't ride it anymore, I was looking to post it on Craig's List for $1,000.00 OBO.

Specialized is good, or Trek mountain frames for affordable versatility. I ride for the pleasure, the solitude, and the exhilaration, I consider the exercise as a free side benefit. Seriously consider Trek, it's a lot of bang for your buck.

I used to ride a lot before my knee surgery. I got a custom fit Lightspeed road bike.

If you are serious and want to be comfortable when you ride, i recommend getting fitted and getting your bike put together according to those measurements. The comfort difference is being uncomfortable after an hour or riding for a strait 6 hours in comfort and being able to ride again the next day.
