How to find the last date a document was edited/saved?

I have a .docx file

I go to file > Properties > statistics and it says

Creation date - March 28, 2008

Modified data is Sep 4, 2009 (present time stamp)

Print > may 4, 2008

Is there any way to find the last date this document was saved or edited? it's giving me the current time and date for some reason.

I received this document by email.

The modified date is when it was last edited, I believe.

You probably have an 'autosave' feature that overwrote it.
The other thing is if you opened the document from your email and 'saved' it, it's probably the reason why it's saved with the current timestamp. Try downloading from the email without opening it first. *rename the file that you have currently on your system first*

Thanks fatfoo

It's important, I have another document that is displaying the right modified date but the one I received by email is not......it just updates the modified date to the current time even if I made no changes.

OTerror, the one that you have which displays the correct modified date, did you receive that one via email too or is it just another word document you have on your comp? I'm thinking the fact that you download and 'save' to your computer, may be changing the info.

I stand corrected - that is not the case. Just tested with the doc you sent me last week. Question though - are you looking at it via the Properties? Cuz when I check it via: Prepare>Properties>Document Properties>Advanced Settings - I get today's info.
However, if I look over the file in my folder, the data is different and 'correct'.

Edit: To add to that, if the document is open while I'm also looking at it via the folder, the data will change since I guess there's an autosave on by default but getting out of the document and not saving will restore the info to its original dates.
