I don't have a Kindle. I went with a Sony Reader after comparing them.

What was the thing that swayed you to the Sony?

Im about to get one too. I am looking at the Kindle DX. Look at the you tube reviews and comparisons.

Downloading strait to the kindle wirelessly for free without being charged air time from the kindle store is pretty cool. But the fact that u cant change the battery when it goes out blows.

I have a kindle, the older one and I got sick of it. I am back to real books. No idea why but it just kept getting used less and less.

Long Battery Life: 25% longer battery life; read for days without recharging

Well, I bought my eReader when the first generation of each model came out. It was an easy choice because I didn't want to be locked into a proprietary file format with the Kindle. With the Sony Reader I was able to load up pdf, doc, and txt files. I believe the Kindle 2 now supports pdf, doc, and txt file formats as well.

I use the Kindle App on the Iphone and love it

I have also used the Kindle and i think it is genius.

Pros:

You have access 350000 books and magazines online from Amazon and it downloads to the Kindle is a matter of seconds.

The display is designed to be legible even in heavy direct sunlight.
Lightweight (no need to lug or store books)
Most all books can be purchased at 9.95 USD
Lots of free books you can download
No internet required to download (3G)
Sample books before you buy

The cons :
Can't read in the dark without a light
The buttons are sometimes hard to press
Text To Speech is robotic
You don't get the feel of an actual book.

Well Barnes & Noble is supposed to be coming out with an impressive one soon. Also if the Apple Tablet comes out anytime soon that would kill all I am sure.

Here is a comparison between the kindle2 and the Sony... http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/02/showdown-kindle/

Thank you both. I just noticed they have a free Kindle app for my iPod Touch. That may work perfect for me.

I got one last Xmas. Loving it. I used to read tons when I was younger. In the past years I'd gotten to where it was less frequent. I'd usually have one or two books partially read that I'd take with me to appointments, etc to read while I waited.

With the Kindle I'm read alot more than I had been. Love it on plane trips, etc. I almost lost the thing in Phoenix. First day in before many others showed up for the TPF I took it with me down to the hotel bar to read while I ate something. Left it there and when I realized it I was panicked. I figured it was long gone. The bartender hung onto it for me. When I walked back in the door to ask if he'd seen it, he handed it to me. Thank goodness.

I thought it would be nice to have books like photography for dummies or various manuals handy.

I was referring to changing out the battery when it no longer holds a charge. No way to replace it. And i do know rechargeable batteries start mot holding charges with time.

I bought that same one you posted for my girlfriend last christmas, and she loved it. And so did her dad. So she sold it to him 2 months ago and bought the newer, bigger one. She takes it everywhere with her and uses it all the time.

Several of her friends that had never heard of Kindle, have bought themselves one after seeing hers.
