Protecting movies/flv from download

Is there any way to protect your movies/flv files from download?

Heard about wowza servers and mod_secdownload - anyone know of these or have advice?

surfers have screencapture software, it does not really matter, they will capture it if they choose too.

What they said. If content can be viewed on a screen, there is always a way to capture it.

There are ways. All 3 of you are wrong that there is no way, and it does not really matter. Wish people would stop repeating the repeaters repeats... lmao

As an extreme example, since you are going to call all 3 of us out, what would prevent someone from physically recording a screen with a video camera, or something as simple as an iphone?

I think this is the point we were trying to make

Because people are just fucking lazy.

Of course there is no 100% way to prevent it. It is just about reducing it as much as possible. Just because there still is a 10 or 15% chance that they could steal it, does it make sense to say fuck it and not try to keep the 85-90% secure?
If everyone had the same thought process there would be no use/market for locks, safes, surveillance cameras, or even armed guards.

a video camera or Polaroid Instamatic is quite different from a screen capture and NOT what he was talking about.

we use bit gravity's md5 cryptograph protection for our flash videos on our tour, so as to prevent hot linking, but I'm sure that there are ways around it, it's at least supposed to prevent against hotlinking of our flvs. I think if people want to download our flash videos for personal use that is fine, but we don't really want them hot linked on other people's blogs or whatever... check out bit gravity.. they may have what you are looking for.

stickyfingerz is correct, there are ways. Here's a thread you might want to check out, most valuable info is in the last few pages after you get past GideonGallery's verbal diarrhea http://www.gfy.com/it/922292-paysites-download-content.html

Since I have a fully contained solution coming out soon, and also do consulting on this and get paid for it (yes I really do lol) Im not going to post much info here. Had 3 companies in the last 24 hours contact me about helping them secure their content. And thats pretty normal the last few months. Too much info getting out there isn't good. Needs to be kept close to the vest and off these boards.
