I have a question about Nikon

I'm interesting to purchase a Nikon but I dont know which one to buy...
I would like to know the difference with :

Nikon D90,
Nikon D5000
Nikon D300s

Which one do you think is the best for doing nice pictures and good size of poster?

Thanks for taking time to answer my questions!!

Buying an expensive camera does not make you a photographer... A camera is not a washing machine.

If you want to be an ignorant photographer (not learn how to take photographs ) why waste money on an expensive camera you will never understand or use to its full potential?

Any good SLR can take a picture like this....

Why so many posts asking what camera to buy, but no post asking what photo books to read? Read a book and then you can tell us what camera is good.

lots of people offering advice here on what camera is best when you havent even stated why you think you may want one over the other and they dont even know why they chose the one they did, they certainly dont say so...

You may as well ask your dog

Find a decent local professional photographer and ask him about being his assistant or having him show you some of the basics of lighting and composition. In my opinion you will learn more from doing and seeing than reading.

Most photogs I know love their craft and are usually willing to trade out knowledge for modeling time, or assistant labor.

If you want to know more than most prof photographers try

"Basic Photography" by Langford.... it covers all the basics and you will know for example that "lenses don't change perspective "

If you want something lighter just visit a good book store and try a for books to see what appeals to you.

Good photography is made with knowlegde and imagination..... not just a good camera...

My first question is: Why Nikon ?

I think that Canon would be better suit a beginner. The menu functions on Nikon are not so use friendly as they are on Canon.

If you are looking for a Camera that will cover ALL of your needs then go with D700 or Canon 5D MKII.

I have read some saying the camera does not make one a photographer, which is very true.
However, better gear helps one to acheive better results. For example: A full frame DSLR
has much greater latitude and Dynamic Range than an APS-C size sensor.

I would advise you to rent both cams to see which is right before you make a purchase and committ to one or the other. You will be glad you did.

Very hard choice for me between the D90 and the 300. Ended up with the D90 and it was a good move based on features, low light and weight (NOT $).

Some days I wonder why I took a few years of photography in college back in the day...when all I should've done was ask a few questions on GFY.

Not to say formal education and training is a prerequisite to being a good photographer - but too many people these days mistakenly think the learning curve only involves reading the camera manual and using the camera on full-auto only.
