yeah, i was going to say that. according to the US definition of socialism we all are probably. so, guilty as charged, i like things like health insurance, unemployment insurance or welfare because everyone might need help at some point. i only say: fight those who misuse it.

I'm a Libertarian, definitely not a Socialist or even hold any Socialist ideals...

I've found today's America to be littered with people who hold Socialist ideals... very few people actually consider themselves Socialists but they certainly support and promote their ideals... At what point should a person be considered a Socialist anyway?

What % of their ideals need to be aligned with Socialism in order to be considered a Socialist?

Or does it come down to a few key points? Like, believing it's the government's job to redistribute wealth...

Socialism as a system where the wealth of a country is democratically controlled for the benifit of all its citizens and not for the private greed of the top 5%.

The old slogan of "from each according to ability, to each according to needs" would apply.

The nature of production would also change from production for profit to production for need, culture, education or pleasure. Taking into account the other costs that capitalists ignore such as CO2 emissions or whether it is benifical to the society as a whole.

You know... I have been putting alot of thought into the corporate/right wing propaganda machine lately. It has occurred to me that they were successful in placing the blame for the financial collapse on bad mortgages when this is really a smoke screen for what really occurred. The real truth is that in 1999-2000 right before Bush took office the Republican controlled Congress passed the "Commodity Futures Modernization Act" that Clinton signed into law (obviously without reading the fucking bill).

It's called "speculating," when you can bet on something where you don't own any involved party. For example, if I bet on Microsoft stock doing well, I do it by buying the stock. Now I own part of the company. If I'm betting on a football game, though, I don't own the Jets or Cowboys (yet), so I've got no horse in that race. That bet is called "speculation" and a "derivative."

Well, at the turn of the century, these Bucket Shops were hugely popular, and they are linked, directly, to the extent of the 1907 market crash. Lawmakers were appalled at Bucket Shops' influence, and they passed state laws that, essentially, said, "This can never happen again." States made Bucket Shops, or any venue where you speculate on the economy, a felony.

Time went by, and we evolved into the current system of government, drenched with lobbying and love for big business -- the administration and Congress. Congress rolled back the Bucket Shop laws in a bill called The Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000, which pulled derivatives and credit default swaps from federal oversite. It also clearly laid out that states couldn't enforce Bucket Shop laws. Done. Of course, the financial businesses were big backers of this bill, throwing millions at lobbyists to make it happen. And it did happen. Gambling and speculation on the economy was legal again! That is your government looking after you. Free market mentality at it's best.

So who was responsible for fucking us? Everyone! It was a truly bipartisan bill.

The US is a communist society in a way, in the sense that for the top richest 10% of the society they live in a communist society. They have all their material desires forfiled. They can travel, eat what they want, their children have the best education, and best health care.

This is also brought about by massive state support in the form of tax breaks for the rich, State funding for military and space industries.

With Credit Cards they even don't use money.

The problem is the other 95% of the pop who still live in the capitalism of poverty, unemployment, poor wages, bad diet, and no health care....

The problem for revolutionary communists like me and Obama is how to give communism to the 6 billlion humans on this planet.

My plan is to distroy the US porn industry from within by making erotic films that make porn a poor 2nd best.

Obama's plan I'm not sure about.
