Do you know why commercials are on TV? Why there are ads in a magazine?

I think a big part of why people complain about ads, and the fight against illegal downloading is just basic ignorance of how an economy works.

He has a small point. Youtube hasn't been bad that I have noticed but some of the other video sites want the surfer to listen to a 30 second commercial for each 2 minute clip they view (in some cases the SAME ad over and over again!). Bah. I'll just read a article about it elsewhere, thanks. It's amazing how many companies don't have a clue how to implement the advertising without totally turning off the surfer.

All of the other ads they slop up everywhere support the site..
They may have some spooky new age network of my own idea going, but someone else will replace them if they want to MILK everyone elses content. Those morons couldn't figure out how to make money ANY OTHER WAY than to ram 20 second ads up our asses when we come to see a two minute CLIP?

Napster was doing something illegal dumbfuck, that's what got them shut down. Google has contracts in place that allows people to upload copyrighted content to YouTube, well I guess not the average Joe, but the owners of the content like Viacom do it themselves, so you won't see the RIAA or MPAA coming after YouTube for a video that their own employees put up.

Yeah, pre-roll commercials are super lame. IMO, they're an evolutionary leap in the wrong direction. I don't think they'll last.
