![]() Im tired of having to go through attorneys for stuff and want to start sending out letters... "From the Law Office of BossKU69"
![]() Yeah I know I can take anyone to small claims court, but most people laugh that off and use the letter to wipe their ass with. I was going to start to research this, but figured there is at least one person here who knows. My friend in LA said you might just have to take the BAR exam in your state, but I'm not sure edit: I guess the subject should read "Is it had to become a lawyer?"

It used to be several years ago, maybe a few decades, in most states you could take the bar exam and become a lawyer regardless of education. Now in all states I know of, you must have a law school degree to be eligible to take the bar exam.

Pretty damn sure there is so many years of school required, then a bar exam. I seem to recall some other sort of delay in there as well.
I looked into it earlier this year, even to see if there were shortcuts via online schools.

Grab a copy of a sample LSAT and you'll be able to judge for yourself how hard the first step is (getting in to law school). Some people find the logic problem/'games' to be nigh impossible, while others seem have a natural aptitude for them. To me, that was the hardest part of the LSAT; the rest is no harder than any other standardized scholastic aptitude exam, really.
By all accounts, law school itself can be pretty brutal, particularly if you also have to work to support yourself during the three year program. Once you've made it through that fun, then you get to the bar exam. Some people sail through on their first attempt, others (including some people that do quite well during law school) have to take it several times before they succeed, and some never do pass the bar. Of course, you can always move to Washington or New York, the two states where you can still forgo law school if you're able to demonstrate competence in the law... but from what I've heard, that process is really no easier (or faster) than going through law school.

Three years of law school and you got it. Didn't think it was hard study, some time required reading. If you can get the credit hours quicker - more power to ya.
I dom't have a law degree and am not an attorney. Just was close to the whole thing for awhile... |

Just the time thing for me, yet I also know in 3 years the time still would have passed. No valid reason that is 100%. Aside from concerns that it would pull me away from business in a time when it really needs full attention.
