AOL's new look (lame)

"A new brand identity to be adopted by AOL next month, when it is spun off from Time Warner, ditches the odd-looking triangle that has long served as the brand symbol and replaces the letters AOL with ?Aol.? -- complete with a period..."

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/23/bu...a/23adcol.html

Wow, I wonder what they spent on that

The thing that most people don't realize is that AOL is staying afloat, and being profitable, by owning sites such as tmz.com, switched.com and engadget.com

A lot of people think of AOL as the program that doesn't allow you to surf the real internet. Nowadays the run a huge network of niche sites. PopEater, PoliticsDaily, WalletPop, etc... I think they have something like 50 of them.

Splitting from TW is going to be huge for AOL. I'll make a very early prediction that they'll regain powerhouse status within a few years.... probably through acquisitions.

AOL actually owns a few huge sites in the niche those sites are in.
