I think London might blow away today
seriously, the winds are so strong at the moment my whole house is shaking. At least, we don't have the floods of other parts of the country.

Its was awful a little while ago here in Bournemouth. The rain has stopped, its nice & sunny now, the wind is still blowing yet has calmed down a little. Hoping you guys are ok in London.

I am very grateful for the Thames barrier which makes serious flooding inside London rare but other parts of the country really feel the brunt of being an island nation at times like this.

hurricane winds, now THAT is some scary sounding stuff, sounds like a train. Part of our roof was blown off couple years ago from Hurricane Gustav, glad we evacuated, wind can be scary at certain levels over 75 mph

My first hurricane I could deal with everything else, except the windows breathing, it just felt wrong.

Back home in the States, I grew up in 10 acres of woods. When we had seriously bad wind storms, it would sound like a train coming through.
Honestly, though, it gets pretty gusty in the UK at times from being an island, I suppose. We do get hurricanes too though obviously not as much as parts of the States. Mostly we get the 'hurricane strength winds' but not usually the rain to go with it. Some parts of the UK have had that rain this time and aren't taking it well. |

Thankfully not..I have been in this flat once when that happened and it was very scary. I am in a two story flat that is three floors up and we stick out in such a way that we really get the wind. It is the level though where I won't let my pug out just on the chance she goes flying though..sounds strange but true.
