It will be awhile before tubes can replicate HDVideo, period. That "watch in HD" bullshit that youtube and some others have is about 1/2 the birate and about 1/4 of the dataflow. They use pixel magic or another application to "anti alias" the pixels together. I am thinking it's about 4 years out.

Number 2, it's just about idiotic to stream 30-50mb. per second data streams unless you run your own ISP. Or are down with 2-4k per month in hosting.

Number 3, it is not "archivable grade" content. Collectors do not fuck around with downloading tube streams or screen capturing it.

Number 4, most good niche content houses do not fuck with tube submissions. So the majority of the content is bangbros, brazzers type content.

Of course you are right, but just sit back and wait for the rediculous pushback you are about to get. The freebie rhetoric gets pretty old to be honest.

Likely 85% of guys are happy enough to jerk it to totally FREE streaming (and often stolen) porn, on tube sites.

Then there are what I like to call the "Fifteen Percenters" - 5% are specialty porn connoisseurs and/or collectors that are willing to pay for content that is very high quality or a VERY specific niche, another 5% pay for porn because they are honest and willing to support the cause, and then there's the final 5% who have either not yet realized porn is free online, or are just too lazy to bother spending 5 seconds looking for it.

The adult market is now reduced down to these "Fifteen Percenters". They are the only customers left. Fortunately 15% is still a good number of customers, but nowhere near what 100% could be, which is why so many are leaving the biz, and why sales are nowhere near what they could and should be.

Where did I get my numbers you ask? I just made them up. I pulled them out of my ass. I believe they are close to reality however, and that's my story and I'm sticking with it!

More and more surfers are getting the 1920x1080 monitors. Also if you have not looked at your paysite through 1920x1080 you should because a fair number of mom and pop tours have image seperations on their tour graphics. I should post a thread on that but it isn't my job to educate paysite ops. (Edit: maybe it is my job)

It isn't a lot of tours but some I wanted to promote had major gaffs at high res. I did actually promote one prog with the image seperations, Why? All else was good. Except that. Prob pull em down though as they prob wont sell.

And no it wasn't anyone's site in this thread.

Do you think its possible to have all 100% as customers? Those people who don't pay for porn now didn't pay for porn in 2005 or 2000 either, those are not customers and never were.

Also, surely over a half of surfers on porn sites are either under 18 or don't have a cc, so you can't expect them to pay either.

btw I'm a surfer, too...and I still prefer tgps to surf porn over tubes. Most tubes have shitty quality, you can't download shit and all the banners around the videos are annoying the shit out of me. I don't see how this is comfortable to the surfer. Its like a company giving you a free car, but then tells you to be a ride for a bunch of ghetto boys 10 hours per day to keep it.

Things will get better when stealing becomes more risky and less profitable. Until new laws close the current loopholes, and major piracy providers are held personally accountable, we'll just keep doing this DMCA dance while the thieves laugh all the way to the bank. The sites doing the most damage are costly operations to run; when the law changes and we can finally effectively attack their wallets and win, then their illicit money making machines will grind to a halt.

That, or until some of these guys who thought they were so smart start showing up with bullet holes. It's really unwise to fuck with other peoples money, especially when the stakes are this high, as that can catch up to you eventually.

EVERYONE is a potential customer.

it's your job to figure out what to sell them

Everything changes, and if you're working in THIS business, then YOU had better change, too - your expectations.

GONE are the days of throwing up some links and sitting back and cashing the checks. WORKING HARD is THE only way to do things now, so guess WHAT???

It's a J-O-B. and JOBS are a pain in the ass HARD WORK.

It seems to me that the majority of people on this thread are complaining because the times ain't sweet anymore, and hard work, adaptation and flexibility are the elements and qualities that will sustain you. Hey, JUST LIKE A REAL JOB.

I think most 'porn producers' or even affiliates chose this 'lifestyle' - selling porn online - because they couldn't really cut it in the mainstream world, OR they're looking to boost their 'real world' income by doing this as a part-time thing. But if you're a BUSINESSMAN, and in this for the long haul, then stop your bitching and WORK HARDER - and SMARTER, too.

OR you could spend endless hours posting on this board, getting to 20,000 posts in X number of years blah blah, and bitch bitch bitch.

Doing any good? Hardly. If you've been in the biz for anywhere past, say, six-eight months, then you already KNOW it's hard to earn a living doing this, and there are no rosy scenarios, and this AIN'T 2002. So why all the endless bleating and harping and complaining.

My God, you all sound like a bunch of women. Heh.

WORK HARDER and enough with the endless Doom-and-Gloom, because I got news for ALL OF YOU:

Your complaints aren't helping OR changing a thing.

But hey, go ahead and bleat. Waste everyone's time, and yours. Not mine because I'm, ahem, WORKING HARDER. AND smarter.

Peace out.

Well, yeah, thats true...just because someone doesn't have a cc or never paid for porn before, doesn't mean he isn't a customer and can't pay in one way or another.

death of the cookie

There is one thing you are all missing which is really killing you guys as affiliates.

I run a business where the traffic we generate carries a cookie whichs tells me the source of the traffic. (perfectly normal you might say)

However when a punter visits the site who has no cookie, we log the sale with a "no cookie" referrer. (again perfectly normal you might say)
The problem is, the more money I spend buying traffic the bigger the business gets, but the sales are not always cookie'd traffic. My non referrer no cookie traffic grows every month.
(and this is a site with virtually no serps)

So my only conclusion is that modern browsers like IE8 (and some privacy/spyware/virus software) with their "In Private" features having a considerable impact and removing the cookies which are the lifeblood of the adult sponsor/affiliate industry.

Believe me or not, it is up to you, but I see the stats everyday, and this is the only conclusion that I am left with.

Non referrer traffic isn't only no cookie traffic. Its type-ins, bookmarkers, old members, recommendations, etc etc...the more traffic you buy, the more of those people comes to your sites, thats obvious.

Yes I understand all that Andrej, but the ratios are too extreme to explain what we are seeing.

Let me put it another way. Our promotional budget returns less than 40% of it's spend.(and this is a huge variety of traffic from adwords to tube traffic)

Yet the more we spend the more the business grows.

So if 60% of our clients our clearing their cookies and their browsing history before they make a purchase, where does it leave the average affiliate ?

I know what you mean, I had domains with 30% non referral sales, just because the domain was easy to remember and I did update it weekly, so many people came back and joined later. The no cookie sales which should bother affiliates are maybe 5% or less.

Why do men pay for hookers then? I mean good looking men who could get women easily. Because its easier, just as paysites are more comfortable over tubes.

Nobody is going to buy something they can get for free.

Is it the end? Yes, if your sales come from selling paysite memberships that offer something people can get for free.

Switch over to another business, you are still in time. Things are going to get worse in 2010, since more and more free content will be given away on a daily basis.

BTW, tubes are just a small part of the problem.

You want niche content for free? Just go to places like extreme-board, tooziq, etcand grab some rapidshare links for instant download.

You can get torrents with FULL DVDs too.
