expanding my netbook's screen resolution?

There's some applications i'd like to use on my netbook which have fixed dimension windows that are just too big for my resolution. So they are rendered completely useless to me. Is there a way I can make my desktop scrollable or something?

Have you tried to, right click on your desktop scroll down to properties click on the tab at the top settings, and move the screen resolution bar, to make it smaller? That is on an xp pro.

Hmm, never noticed that you could nav around a bigger desktop that way. I also changed my res and saw the navbar disappear and choose not to ap[ly the changes. That do whenever I need it.
