and i promote them with a domain i picked up say 123456.co.uk and forward the traffic to 123456.com

The best is to contact them and ask them directly.

If it is a famous, registered, and distinctive trademark you might face a lawsuit.

Without a trademark or without it having copyrights then there is no harm with you making a site in a .co.uk and forwarding it as an affiliate.

After seeing a similar thread the other day, I would suggest the same as someone suggested on there. Links, many links, with some of them, the main link directing to the named site.

I would not like it, but some have said they do not mind the traffic.

I have sent a S&D letter once due to someone promoting a Handball event that I felt messed with my Handball websites trademark. Trademark = commerce with the name. I had the website name 8 years...and sold T-shirts with name on it. Also certain words are too general to be considered a trademark. Not likely I can trademark, Japanese Girls.

Check with your sponsor. Alot of sponsors (us included) don't mind it, but alot feel like you're stealing "their" google traffic.

I agree ,check with the sponsor as some are fine with it and others get annoyed.

Is it legal ? depends if a trademark exsists in the domain and if its a co.uk domain you have ..is that trademark registered in europe ( always consult a lawyer if unsure).

You could always try it without any checking and be prepared to hand it over if any problem arises. (quick ,cheap way of doing it I guess)

use common sense......
IF its a big trademark name they can simply take the name from you = you are screwed.
Say you regged thehun.whatever (they could simply demand that you give them the domain).

Lesser names you would have no problem, but at the end of the day check the systems TOS and/ check with them.
Im sure that they would rather have you send the traffic to then and not someone else.
