facebookers and others RAGING Against The Machine

I already own it, but I bought a copy here to support the cause...

http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Downlo...ml?aid=7074020

it's a great song anyways:

cool how the grassroots movement has pushed the song into the number one spot, pretty nice achievement for a song that is over 15 years old

"The RATM campaign began with a Facebook group which asked: "Fed up of Simon Cowell's latest karaoke act being Christmas No 1? Me too... So who's up for a mass-purchase of the track Killing In The Name as a protest to the X Factor monotony?"

The song, released in 1992, features the repeated chant: "FUCK you, I wont do what you tell me."

I'm not the biggest Korn fan, but this song has a lot of truth in its video.

Yea! That was great! I saw that show in Phila with a friend. I miss their warmhearted hijinx.

Gangstarr was the man too.

yeah, it's even more annoying when instead of just posting a pic or youtube video here, a person feels the need to make a blog post of the pic or video, with no other content, and drop the link to that in the thread instead

on another note, I was just thinking this great thread would have gotten a lot more views if I had put Simon Cowell or x-factor or american idol in the thread title

Holy shit, the closest I had to a show like that was seeing De La Soul, Black Sheep, Tribe Called Quest, & Wu-Tang in 1 show.

It looks as though the campaign is going to fail anyway.

Current odds:
Joe McElderry (X Factor Winner) 4/9
Rage Against The Machine 10/3

Guys. Heads up. When you are all socking it to The Man buying RATM, you are - of course - sucking the cock of The Man.

RATM are on a Sony label. Cowell makes more money for Sony than anyone else. http://routenote.com/blog/how-much-d...make-for-sony/

This 'grassroots facebook campaign' is bollocks. It is a marketing stunt from Sony.

Quite a clever one and certainly fooled lots of people.

By all means by any music you want. But don't think you're somehow rebelling against anything by purchasing RATM. You are simply giving Sony even more cash.

RATM pwning Simon Cowell's #1 spot is awesome. Who cares who profits from it.

Not everyone is rebelling against the man, many of us are actual fans of RATM's music... and want to see them succeed over a putz like Simon Cowell.

heard the theory, but realistically the amount they would make off of this is negligible

RATM is a great band to be doing this with as well

Well until someone can get a movement effective enough to get people to buy enough copies of some piece of shit independent band to get them to #1, RATM will have to do. Their raging against Simon Cowell, not against Sony. Sony would not want this to happen, because if the machine that is Simon Cowell's ability to get singles to the top of the charts were to be destroyed, they would lose a lot more in the long-run...I don't think THEY would engineer that for a mere short-term gain of RATM single sales.
