Very Useful Law

I came across this law - and I found it very useful.

(In the Income Tax Act of Canada)

Offences under the Income Tax Act:

Unauthorized wilful communication of any taxpayer information

On a summary conviction, a fine not exceeding $5,000 and/or imprisoment for a term not exceeding 12 months.

This basicly means that if someone talks about my private confidential information - such as my bank accounts, chequing accounts, debts and income taxes without my permission I can sue them for $5,000 and imprisonment of 12 months.

There have been cases of certain corrupt bank tellers that like to spread news about people's confidential information. These tellers deserve to be in jail.

Yes.

Just remember this - when you go to a bank you are not on trial.

It's not a court room - it's just a bank.

There is no oath to swear to tell the truth, so help me God, etc. etc.

Like always - you have the right to remain silent!

That doesn't mean you can sue them for anything, you can snitch on them to some government agency and hope they get fined/imprisoned for it...

You can still probably sue them , but the $5k fine or 12 month imprisonment has nothing to do with it... completely different court, different case...etc

(at least that's how it works around here)

I didn't know the meaning of the word innocuous so I looked it up:

Innocuous - Something that is innocuous is not at all harmful or offensive.

So, if you work in porn - would that be innocuous?
Are there any drawbacks to officially declaring profits are from a pornography source?

I know that a lot of people want to keep their financial business information private and secret for the simple reason that they don't want their competition to see their financial statements. It's too much information for the competition.

These are the basics:

So, for a public company financial statements would be available for all public to see.

For a private company the financial statements are not available for all public to see.

Also, is some cases employees of a company sign a contract with a clause that says, "Informing competitors about private company matters and documents is not allowed."
