Galleries, Blogs, and more? Help needed
Hmm lame title I know. Long sob story short, I was in adult before, had to leave it for awhile to try 'mainstream' shit, but that failed horribly. Have a disability so I can't work a FT job but need the money so i'm going back to adult.
That being said, not looking for handouts or any of that shit. Just looking for tips and pointers on which direction to go in again. Used to do a lot of free sites / galleries and some PPC. I hear blogs are a new rage, is there anything else? About blogs, is it better to have one blog constantly updated or a bunch of blogs, similar to free sites that are never updated? I'd think a main blog, but again I don't know. Also, can wordpress be used on windows servers? Not going to ask for any specific niche, I know people don't give away their gold nor do I expect them to. I'll be dabbling in many niches till I find some that win, but i'd like a good course of action. Every time I think about it, I get overwhelmed and unmotivated and end up playing xbox. Need a pro to give me a tip or two that clicks in my brain and sets those cylinders firing again. Thanks! |

What disability do you have that prevents you from working a full-time job?

But actually, I wouldn't say that blogs are any new rage. People don't do them as much as they used to. But I personally love them. They are great if you know how to use them properly.
Frankly, don't listen to what anyone says. Just try something, focus on it, stick with it, and see what happens. There are dozens of ways to make money in this industry. Listening to what Bob or Charlie says works doesn't mean anything if you can't get it to work. Just start working.

When I was doing it, I was working as much as a 'full time job', so this wasn't a plea for some get rich quick scheme. I know how much work it takes to get things done. The only thing is, back then I had a direction, now I feel so out of the game. Back then I used to pump out a gallery or two a day, along with an entire free site, submit them to the local guys. On those pages i'd send traffic to the sponsors as well as my 'hub' which i'd routinely update and work on. On the side i'd also work on PPC. I was just wondering if it's still the same? From the sounds of it, it does seem similar, however the 'hub' can be more of a blog now? Maybe I should have a blog for each niche I focus on. Do the free sites, or mostly galleries since I hear free sites are kind of a bitch these days (but do they still send semi-quality traffic?), and then update my blog and try to get some seo listings that way? Also, anyone know about wordpress? I have the windows server, will it work on that? I don't want to have to get a linux box when I already have windows paid for. Thanks! |

I'm pretty sure the guy asked for tips on where to jump back into adult, not who writes shit.

Hey, I do blogs, dunno about your windows server though and I wouldn't use anything but WordPress. There are eleventy-zillion spam blogs out there and no way to get traffic to them, so I wouldn't go that route. One, two, three, maybe four tightly-niched blogs, with daily updates, hand written, that will still get you links, organic traffic, ultimately some search engine, and some sales.
Will it be enough to replace a job? I'm not sure -- it's really slow (like, YEARS) to build the kind of traffic numbers to generate the kind of revenue you need. And you need to be creative with revenue models, too. Subscription model is down all over, which is hard on affiliates; you'll want to mix it up if you can, selling something that can't be bit torrented for free. If you go the blogging route, you'll *need* to find creative ways to get attention and traffic. "Build it and wait for Google" just won't cut it any more. |
