Question for you all before I blast this person

I bought an IM ad on a monthly basis from a site that is getting 10k+ uniques a day and 50k+ page impressions a day by their count.

I have been averaging 18 clicks a day!

To me this seems like complete BS! Just wondering what other people think.

Its a basic SS IM ad.

I just looked at yesterday's stats for one of my 10k sites.

10,476 unique visitors, 31,830 page views. Facebook IM ad that goes to a dating sponsor. 69 clicks yesterday.

Basically 1 out of 500+ uniques is clicking the IM ad?

Seems pretty low to me.

As we all know, Alexa sucks when it comes to guessing the traffic of a site and two similar sites can have very different numbers.

However, if it helps you any (to compare to the site you're buying from that is supposed to have similar daily traffic to mine), the 7-day Alexa rank for my site is 137,181.

Is this based on what the sponsor reports or your own tracking?

Very true. The only luck I've had is with Facebook style ads and even that is only moderate luck.

Be careful if you buy something based on impressions. Clicks are unpredictable.

If really want to, you can buy something on a per click basis.

there could be 100+ reasons as to why the ad is preforming so poorly.

Reminds me of one of the link sellers on here that boasts 1 million views/day, then you get 20 clicks/day that bounce.

I wouldn't bitcht hem out, but I'd definitely ask for a click thru ratio, and impression count.

well I spend quite a bit of money on IM ads a month. This is the first real time I have been burned like this. Every site has different results I guess.

He did provide me with stats, but nothing that said these are stats for this url.

I don't have much experience with IM ads. I saw everybody using them last year so I tried them out for a couple of months. Didn't do shit. But it did piss people off that wrote me. I would guess that they aren't much good. I'm sure that the first time people ever saw them they might have gotten some clicks, and maybe even a signup. But now...everybody on the internet knows what they are and I doubt that anybody would click them. But that's just my observation, not backed up with any recent stats.

How much did the ad cost you and how much did you make back.

It could be your ad that isn't pulling the clicks.

You've got a full month to figure it out.

Not going to show the ad because of the url. If this is just a random bad experience and I have had a lot of good experiences there is no reason for me to drag anyones name through to trash.

Its the standard sexsearch IM ad
