Too Much Media announces TMMid and new Clients Area!
Too Much Media is very excited to announce the upcoming release of TMM Identity (TMMid for short). TMMid is a new universal login system for all Too Much Media services. Having a TMMid will allow you to access multiple TMM websites using a single username and password. In conjunction with the release of TMMid, Too Much Media is also launching an entirely new Clients Area. Details about TMMid, the new Clients area, and the transition are below.
TMMid The release of TMMid is fast approaching. All Too Much Media clients will be required to have a TMMid. TMMid itself is not the new Clients Area, however you will use your TMMid to access the new Clients Area. Anyone will be eligible to obtain and use a TMMid. As a Too Much Media client you will be automatically issued a TMMid prior to the public launch of TMMid. By default, the username and password for your new TMMid will match the username and password you currently use to access the existing Clients Area. Q: What if I would like a different username for my TMMid? A: Many of these existing usernames were auto-generated at the time you became a Too Much Media client so they may not be your first choice of a username. If you would like to use a different username for your TMMid than your current Too Much Media username you must contact us ASAP. We are giving Too Much Media clients an opportunity to receive their desired username prior to the public release of TMMid. Once TMMid is released to the public there is a chance someone may register with the username you wish to have. Simply contact us to make sure the username you want is reserved for you. Q: What if my Too Much Media client account currently has multiple logins? A: When a Too Much Media client required multiple people to access the ticket system on their behalf new logins were created under their account. The new Clients Area we are releasing alongside TMMid has much greater functionality in this regard which we are sure our clients will appreciate. This new functionality is explained in more detail below, but in general each user will be issued their own TMMid login with the username & password matching their current account. Q: Can I have more than one TMMid? A: The short answer is no. A TMMid must have a unique email. With the new system there is no reason for one person to require multiple TMMid's. Q: Well, what if I have more than one Too Much Media client account? A: One TMMid will have the ability to manage multiple Too Much Media client accounts. If you have multiple client accounts with Too Much Media there will no longer be a need to maintain a separate login for each account. Q: I am a service provider who is not a direct Too Much Media client, but I have been given access to the Clients Area by one or more Too Much Media clients. How does this affect me? A: TMMid is not only intended for Too Much Media clients, but for anyone who may have a use for Too Much Media services or products. It has been very common for a Too Much Media client to need to provide access to the Clients Area for someone else. This includes hosting company staff, consultants, non-staff programmers, or other support staff. Frequently, these individuals also work with multiple Too Much Media clients resulting in the need for them to maintain an additional login for each client they work with. TMMid solves these issues by allowing anyone who needs to work with a Too Much Media client to obtain their own TMMid. Too Much Media clients can then grant full or limited access to the new Clients Area for any TMMid they wish. More details regarding this are included below under the new Clients Area section, but the short answer is each service provider will have their own TMMid which they can use to work with any client who grants them privileges. Q: Is this the new system I have been contacted about by Too Much Media staff? A: Yes, Too Much Media has already reached out to a number of clients in order to determine specifics needed for your account to prepare for the transition. If you have not been contacted regarding TMMid your account was able to be imported into TMMid without any additional information. If you would like to confirm anything regarding the transition to TMMid please feel free to contact Too Much Media. Q: If I have more questions about TMMid who should I contact? A: You may contact anyone at Too Much Media to discuss TMMid. Specific contact information is provided at the end of this email.

New Clients Area
An entirely new, completely redesigned Too Much Media Clients Area is being released alongside TMMid. This new system is not part of TMMid, however you will access the new Clients Area using your TMMid. This new system will replace the existing ticket system, account management, and customer support areas of the Too Much Media website. The Clients Area encompasses all aspects of the client relationship with Too Much Media. This includes, but is not limited to client news, support tickets, accounting, product management, and client feedback. The new Clients Area has been redesigned in order to be more user-friendly, more feature rich, compatible with TMMid, and expandable for the future. One of the main benefits of the new Clients Area is account & login management. As mentioned above, any Too Much Media client or service provider working with multiple accounts was forced to juggle multiple logins. This is no longer the case with the new Clients Area. The new Clients Area has a very robust, yet simple to use account management and permissions system. Every Too Much Media client will now have a "Master Account". This master account is the TMMid login which is the owner of the client. The master account will always have full permissions for that client. The master account then has the ability to add additional logins under the client. This is done by simply entering the TMMid of the person you wish to allow access to the Clients Area for your account. Once you have enabled a TMMid under your account, you can define which permissions this TMMid has on your behalf. Examples of this might be technical staff who can only access the ticket system or an accountant who can only access invoices. In the past, Too Much Media would need to create these additional logins for you. With TMMid and the new Clients Area you have the ability to add, remove, and modify permissions for these logins as you see fit. This is a brief introduction to a very robust system. If you have any questions about the system you are always welcome to contact Too Much Media for help. Q: Who can I add as a sub-account under my Too Much Media client account? A: Anyone with a TMMid may be enabled under your account. Q: What if I want to add or delete sub-accounts for my account? A: Adding, deleting, or modifying of sub-account relationships is done entirely via the new Clients Area web interface. There is no more need to contact Too Much Media in order to manage sub-account logins for your client account. You simply need to login and grant permissions to the TMMid you wish to allow. Q: How do I find out which TMMid I need to add for someone? A: The individual you are granting access to would need to provide you with their TMMid. Q: How many sub-accounts may I add? A: You may add as many sub-accounts as you need. Q: Can a TMMid have access as a sub-account under multiple Too Much Media clients? A: Yes, a TMMid may be enabled for access under multiple Too Much Media clients. For example, several Too Much Media clients may wish to enable ticket access for the TMMid of a common hosting company support person. If a TMMid is not the master account for a client an additional "relationship password" must be provided in order to access that particular client. This extra layer of security was added to protect you in the event that a TMMid with sub-account access to multiple clients shares their login with someone. Without the "relationship password" the user will not be able to access anything for the client. "Relationship passwords" are auto-generated by the system when a relationship with a new TMMid is established. This ensures that all "relationship passwords" are different and are not guessable. If the TMMid logging in to the new Clients Area is the master account for the client, no relationship password is required. Q: What permissions are available for me to grant to sub-accounts? A: You may grant permissions for tickets, product management, and accounting to a sub-account. Permissions are granted on a per-product basis. For example, If you have multiple NATS installations you may wish to allow one TMMid to have ticket access for one of your installations and a different TMMid to have ticket access for a second installation. In this case the sub-account would not see anything related to the product they do not have permissions for. Further instructions on adding sub-accounts and managing permissions are available in the new Clients Area. Q: What accounts and sub-accounts will I have upon the transition to TMMid and the new Clients Area? What permissions will they have? A: If you currently only have one login for your account this login will be transitioned to the new TMMid system and will be set as the master account for you. If you have multiple logins, someone from Too Much Media should have been in contact with you to find out which account should be set as your master account. If you feel you should have been contacted, but have not been contacted please get in touch with us as soon as possible. Any logins under your client account which are not the master account will also have matching TMMid's created for them. These TMMid's will be added as sub-accounts without any permissions to start. You may login with your master account and grant permissions to these sub-accounts. Thank you for taking the time to read this introduction to TMMid and our new Clients Area. The new systems will allow both you and Too Much Media to maintain a better working relationship. We are aiming to release both of these systems during the week of January 11th, 2010. If you have any questions at all regarding these systems please do not hesitate to contact us. For sure... the stuff in this thread was needed prior to a full release of it. We're finally almost there.
A big New Year's surprise is coming for everyone.

Just make sure that all prior connections that at some point existed do not get granted access in this cross-account access thingy.... that would allow access to an account the user was no longer able allowed to access....
I submitted the problem by email, as did Christian, but I didn't hear anything back. Hope it got rectified. Merging accounts though is long overdue and fully commended - makes my lifge easier! nice work.

![]() Only the master account will have any privileges for a client at the start. Nothing to rectify. Not sure who you sent an email to. I haven't received anything. If you sent it to someone else please forward it to me. The communication went out after 6 on a Friday, so if you sent it to someone specifically they most likely haven't checked their email since you sent it. This is why we do all support via the ticket system. Any of our staff can then see it ![]() edit: make that 6 years... time flies.
