:stoned Leno gets back Tonight Show - Conan gets 40 million USD...

that's a lot of money - and he's not allowed back on screen till November. Enough time to shoot a couple nice movies for Pink Visual - if they can afford him

well - a million more or less - who cares - lol

i actually like both of them, but Conans humour is definitely not for the broad masses. so i think it was a bad idea from the beginning to give him the tonight show

38 million or 40 million is still toooooooooo much to pay conan.. If he takes another gig NBC only has to pay the difference between the new pay, so nbc can still get away cheap.. Besides they will make back that amount in a year in profit off Jay Leno in advertising. Conan was just losing money since he started at NBC...

NBC fucked up to begin with by making the switch...

I guess that's why they promised Conan The Tonight Show back in 2004, instead of losing him to another network. But don't listen me, Jay Leno will be happy to tell you:

Leno does well with the older crowd and had higher ratings overall for the Tonight Show, but from what I understand when Conan took over even though he lost the #1 spot the show held he was in the lead with the 18-49 demographic, the target audience for many of the shows advertisers. The problems really came when Leno came on at 10 and killed the nightly news lead in for local affiliates. Local affiliates started complaining they didn't want Leno leading into the news because they were losing viewers and it was costing them ad dollars in their respective markets.

I love Conan, but I don't think the tonight show was the right fit for him. I think he will find success on another network doing what he does best, his own thing. He let the Tonight show moniquer and format stifle him and he lost a little bit of the edge that made him so great on the Late Night. He'll kick ass somewhere, most likely fox.

I think Jay Leno's about as exciting and edgy as a wet paper bag. I hope he tanks.

Conan will end up on Fox, and with the George Lopez doing well on TNT with the 18-49 and multicultural viewers (their words) I think Conan will hit his stride once free of the networks and able to cut loose on cable...

I think Fox would be a good fit for Conan, but Fox affiliates already make decent money airing reruns. It will be tough to convince them to try something untested like a late night show 5 days a week. Especially since he didn't really do that great in the time slot.

I like Conan, but I'm not sure where he will end up.

It could work at Fox, but Fox would have to commit to giving him time to grow and build an audience. If Fox is in it for the long haul, it could really become a franchise.

awesome...

What's lame, is that part of the Adam Sandler episode was edited out of the show on the NBC website. I watched that episode this morning, didn't remember seeing that part. So I went back just now and see that they did cut of the part with the Veyron from the online version. It goes from the end of the hamster bit, to commercial, then to Sandler's intro.

Fucking NBC, quit screwing up the shows!

They sure did double up on the ads though, in these last couple weeks.

As I understand it...the reason the Tonight Show hasn't done well is because of the horrible ratings that The Jay Leno Show was getting in the 10 p.m. time slot. It was so bad that NBC affiliates were threatening to not air it.

They always relied on shows doing well in prime-time to lead in to their local late night news.

So if you have a hit show from 10 to 11, you have a big audience for your local news...and then that audience carries over to The Tonight Show.

The problem wasn't with Conan...it's with Jay. His show had to be yanked. It took up all 5 days of the week in primetime and destroyed NBC's ratings overall.

Frankly I kinda like both guys. I hated Jay when he beat out Letterman for The Tonight Show, and I hated Conan when he replaced Dave. But they kinda grew on me over the last 10 + years.

The whole thing is NBC's fault. Putting Jay Leno on 5 nights a week in prime time was a miserable mistake.

wouldn't be surprised if Fox already has the contract signed and Conan's gonna start up the prepping of the show asap. It'll start end of year probably and he'll do "anything" he can to destroy NBC in the ratings. BOL Conando

All these type of shows suffer for being on 5 nights a week. So many of the jokes and guests end up being lame.
