Is Apple on a crusade to kill itself?

Or does the company think it's become big enough to air its grievances with other corps in public?

Since MaxiPad, I've been reading shit that Jobs has made a beeline in employee Q&A time to hound Google for shitting on their turf "we don't do searches but Google do phones" thing. Then (or before) ass fucking adobe saying they will no longer (?) support Adobe Flash, cos it's too buggy and that alone is what crashes Macs.

Normally I read this shit with one eye one a nice set of boobies, but recently, this banter come before the boobies cos I've had Apple stock sitting since it was around $18 a share and I wanna know wtf this turtle-neck dove is doing as to whether now is the time to sell?

I may have the finer details over these spats off a bit, but the general gist is Apple is badmouthing Google and Adobe, right?

Those were excerpts taken from a 'town hall' style meeting for apple employees. The google portion is a wash but the adobe concerns are pretty valid, plus i'd think investors would want to see a spark of life out of that guy after lounging around on that leather sofa with that big ipod touch for an hour and a half.

They overdid the hype on the iPad - the backlash will be going on for months.

You saw him ..... A better question from an investment angle is what will the stock do if Jobs dies. Then look up the type of cancer he had/has.

Apple didn't really hype anything. They kept quiet and let the hype machine roll on...which was the problem. The machine did all the hype and Apple did nothing to squelch any improper rumor spreading.

Q&A with employees or not, it's going to get out 100% for sure, so it was no "error" in spouting off during them imo.

Google "do no evil" is "bullshit" or " a load of crap", but Adobe is "the reason Macs crash".

If I were in charge of a town vying to become the next big city, my town hall meetings would be under better control!

Jobs is an arrogant idiot. He absolutely hates competition. Google hasn't done anything to Apple that Apple didn't do to Nokia or Motorola.

I hate Flash so it's hard for me to disagree with him on that one.

Imagine if Google stopped supporting Apple. No more searches from Apple devices. No more Gmail access, etc. Imagine Adobe not supporting Macs anymore. How long would the Mac survive without a compatible version of Photoshop? The yappy little turtlenecked chihuahua Jobs needs to learn to show some respect.

But in this case it might hurt them, because this product does not live up to expectations in this first generation form.

But again, typical Apple. Put something out there and get people hooked, then sell a new and improved version within 6 months.

Sorry, but the Adobe thing is a great thing. There is absolutely no reason for web development and computer technologies to be DEPENDENT on a third party application. It's retarded.

Let alone the fact that javascript and html have almost all the capabilities that are available with flash. However for whatever reason development turned to flash instead and took development down a bassackwards road to using flash instead of growing the javascript libraries.

Think about it. It's 2010 and we've finally gotten into the jQuery libraries and development has made a drastic move over to javascript instead of using flash. Javascript is a not a dependent third party plugin, it's all native. It's also better optimized for the web, not only in size but in rendering capabilities, and search engine optimization. What sucks, is we're this far into web development technology however we're still epically behind on javascript development because so much of the development world had it's head up Adobe's ass and never bothered to explore javascript more.

Flash is great for advertising and marketing. But that's where it place should stay.

I know of his aggressive pancreatic cancer - the worst there is. Whether it's
"gone" like is reported or not, who knows. He was definitely less scrawny than last year.

I have AAPL stock that I bought when there was the .com boom when it was 18 and "going nuts" and then a fresh, larger batch in Octboer or sometime, when it hit bottom at 95 or thereabouts. Then it picked back up, then it dropped with the cancer scare (again), then it's back up.

I'm selling it all at 250 I think. Maybe a percentage will go now to be sure. Cos this shit, esp adobe is nuts. HTML5 is great and all, but an end to flash? Maybe they're correct, but fuck it if I'm going to gamble! HTML5 is tomorrow, and this shit is today.

I *think* you're wrong on this - I think there is a niche, maybe not the iPod niche, but deffo a niche for this kinda pad. It's not at all the pads that are available on windows, which are business orientated - this is consumer oriented.

I've migrated from desktop to laptop to desktop and in my life, at any rate, there is a fucking piece of peper surfing thing missing in my life that allows me to whizz it down on the coffee table when done.

I think by 2nd gen, I will definitely get me one to bridge that huge void between my laptop and desktop. And at that time I think the laptop will be obsolete and nver get replaced, since in reality the laptop is just an extension of the desktop.

If they keep that frikken iApp thing closed though, it may well be a a killer.

I'm erring though on the side of "fucking great product" though tbh to fill the void between laptop and desktop that no tablet has ever tried to do

links?

there's a big difference between not having your hardware or software not support flash and moaning about something...

100% agree

However, this whole shebang isn't limited to flash.
PDF is crap with Adobe on mac, and totally void on the iphone.

Why have Apple crippled PDF on the iphone? Adobe licenses gone sour? and that's why the flash shit went titsup?

I've no idea, but Flash like you say is soon to be replaced, but PDF is here to stay. And Apple only have a half-assed implementation of it in their Preview App.

Apple's first quarter profits shot up to 3.38billion in the first quarter. They own the MP3 player market and control online music sales.

They don't give a fuck what a few internet nerds have to say about the iPad. Yes you are a consumer but chances are your whiney ass isn't going to plunk down the money to buy any of their products to begin with. And if they don't care what a bunch of whiney nerds on tech blogs have to say about the way they do business....they especially don't care what "borked" from GFY thinks about managing a town and town hall meetings

Nice try. PDF viewing on the Mac is 1000000% easier than anything on the PC. Just ask anyone who owns a Mac. Preview opens a PDF document in about 2 seconds compared to the truly painful experience on a PC. Leopard also comes with native pdf viewing and print to PDF support. No need for Reader.

You're full of shit.

It seems obvious to me that his bitching about Adobe/Flash is probably meant to be taken as the reason iPhone/iPad etc. don't support Flash when in reality there's no reason why they shouldn't support Flash. It's almost like championing not stepping forward in technology.

enabling flash would kill their app store sales... why would anyone purchase games apps anymore, when they could just go to 100s of flash games sites each having 1000s of different games for free?

There are plenty of non Adobe PDF readers available for a PC too. I installed Foxit and never looked back... none of this splash screen that announces loading of APIs and extensions for what seems an eternity crap

Flash slowly went down the toilet after Adobe bought Macromedia.

Pretty much every browser crash I ever get can be attributed to Flash.

It isn't noticable with Flash banner ads, but much larger applications often balloon to several hundred MBs memory usage between RAM and the swap file. And it happens on every browser on any computer.

I can understand why Apple wouldn't support Flash since these devices have limited computing power as it is.
