Hosting Companies Unite to Provide Relief for Haiti. And You Can Help.

On January 12th, a series of earthquakes measuring 6.5 to 7.3 on the Richter scale devastated Haiti. There is now a critical shortage of essential supplies and support personnel to assist the people of Haiti through this crisis.

Although normally fiercely competitive, as members of the hosting community we know that the power we wield as a group is much more than we can wield individually. And so we've come together to help assist those affected by this disaster. With the generosity of all our combined customers, we hope to make a difference. And you can too. One dollar helps. One hundred dollars helps one hundred times more.

We've partnered with the American Red Cross to provide support, which may include mobilizing relief workers, sending relief supplies, and providing financial resources for recovery.

For more information on how you can help please visit ~ http://www.hostingforhaiti.com

Just as all other humanitarian donations aiming for Haiti, you will be making a difference in corrupt officials' lives. It might be good PR, but hardly any positive karma points. But that's why you're doing it right - it's pure business. Nobody actually cares about anyone in Haiti

I have to agree since since only .01 of each dollar is accually going to the people of Haiti. The article was posted yesterday on the web...

I already donated through my tax dollars and so did you, since our government gave...$200 million...and the use of our military and local agencies. How about helping the homeless in our country 1st.

BINGO

companies, people and celebs alike would make private donations if they really cared. but they make it public because they want something in return.

if you really cared you would go there and do something about it.

patting yourself on the back and using a disaster as a promotion is pretty scummy imo. the world never surprises me anymore.

Still I like to believe in the positive........
Maybe I am really a fool who just loves to believe and hold on to the good in peoples hearts.....

Call me a dreamer ;-)
When rich people decide to help poor people and their motive is to do some personal marketing, well I fully agree, it sucks. But hey, if it saves some lives..... Well you know...

I gave some money already but if that little is getting through, I feel like a schmuck.

Anyway, here's a bump for the cause. Your hearts are in the right place and that's all that matters.

First.....KUDOS to Mike and the Webair team for seeing a need and trying to do something to help! Everyone in this thread made valid points, BUT, why is it a bad thing to want to help? The system may be flawed but this group of hosting companies is at least trying to do something. Please don't belittle them for at least doing something!!

Second...before anyone jumps to any conclusions, no, my company is not associated with this group....not that we wouldn't but we had already done something on our own when this venture came out so we respectfully passed. It doesn't mean we do not believe in the cause, it was simply an issue of timing.

Lastly, anyone that knows me knows that I like to donate to small charities....ones that have no overhead and 100% of the money donated goes straight to the source as opposed to salaries and fancy offices.......BUT....and this is a huge BUT.....in this case there is no better place to donate than the Red Cross. In a catastrophe of this magnitude it is difficult to get the aid to where it is needed...it takes people who know what they are doing and have done this before to try to streamline the process of getting food and other supplies to the people that need it most. A small charity would be totally lost. That is why, in this case, the Red Cross is your best bet to really make a difference!!!

Again, Mike.....NICE JOB!! I got mad respect for you, bro!!!

The hostingforhaiti.com relief effort donates directly and exclusively to The Red Cross. We are proud to be working with so many GREAT hosting companies to help a GREAT cause. Aside from donating to multiple small & large charities (within the UNITED STATES), Webair.com remains steadfast in it's continued efforts to give back wherever and whenever we can.

Personal note:

We may live in different areas, but we all live in one world. We are all connected. We are lucky enough to live in the greatest county in the world! Not everyone is so fortunate. Give back when and if you can. It will come back to you ten fold in the long run.

Is this for real? If so, why the need for the "personal note" footnote? What you said in the personal note reads identically to what you said in your business note.

Unfortunate as the situation is, I am not donating to this disaster relief fund. Not even the one setup by my own govt where ?1 donated == ?1 received to the relief aid.

For my own stupid reasons.

You really can't go wrong supporting the American Red Cross, majority of donated funds are actually put into operations, emergencies, and supplies.

Kudos to Webair and the other companies.

Thanks Allen for bumping a great cause. As time goes on donations start thinning out and so much help is still needed.

hope to see you next week in LA as planned. speak to you then.
