So who else had their drugrevenue whitelabel domains suspended?

All of the whitelabels share a single IP (and the same name servers) so the actions of one (or a few) have affected multiple affiliates. My dom is suspended.

Who died and made Godaddy and Moniker the net police?

Godaddy is not really a surprise, but Moniker is. They quietly suspended my domain and did not notify me.

I'm assuming, but don't know for certain, that someone was spamming to generate traffic to their whitelabel... which happens to be hosted on the same IP as hundreds of other white labels.

That sucks. The shop should give everyone a custom IP, that isn't that hard.

Did they suspend the domains because of spam or because these sites are illegal in the US?

The suspension appears to have been because of the spamhaus SBL listing, but one person who contacted godaddy was told that a site which sells non prescription drugs breaks Godaddy's ToS, so even if he pays the $199 ransom it seems they'll just suspend it again.

So what's next... the dept of motor vehicles starts mandating that we cannot use orange cup holders otherwise they'll revoke our car rego?? A domain registrar should not be a net cop.

Godaddy suspended mine.

I just put up a new one about 6 hours ago. Using my own nameservers and Namecheap domain. Its a bitch though because I have to go through my traffic sources and update urls and such. Its not like you can just have the old domain redirecting to the new one since they removed the domain from our accounts.

Any idea how to get the suspended domain back? Its not even in my account anymore. :x

I've had bad experiences with Go Daddy before so I can expect this of them.

Kind of surprised at Moniker though!

As per the thread on ADX you either have to get the SBL entry removed and pay a $199 ransom to get your dom back, or shift registrars and pay a $79 ransom for them to release the domain.

If you choose neither then I think the domain stays suspended until it expires.

The WHOIS for my domain at Moniker shows...

Domain Manager [email protected]
Deactivated Domains
20 sw 27th ave
suite 201
pompano beach
FL
33069
US

Still no response.

Oh yeah, if your dom is less than 60 days old then it cannot be transferred, which means the $199 ransom is really the only choice. Then you're still sitting around for the balance of the 60 days wondering whether they're going to suspend you again before you can transfer out.

Got a response from Moniker - "Unfortunately they do have the ability to block our services, so we have no choice in the matter."

Now please don't think I'm advocating spam in any way... I hate it... but surely SOMEONE must be able to see that this is collateral damage. I didn't realise that spamhaus had such a hold over the net. There's been no communication from drugrevenue either.

Not that I have any pharma issues, but this thread raised concerns for me over having domains w/Moniker and their policies.

I emailed my rep about it, and they assured me

"Moniker would never suspend a domain etc w/o at least talking to the owner first."

Can you tell me how/when they contacted you?

Also do you mind emailing me the link to the ADX thread? gfy at jeffrandom dot com

really ?

with hundreds of domains people use for something like this the program would needs tons of ip's to do this.

whoever told you getting 500 or 1000 ip's is easy is an idiot.

Yes, this was my concern too. My pharma domain is basically throwaway, someone gave me a referral to drugrev and pointed out that setting up a whitelabel would take a few minutes. I hadn't started promoting it yet.

So it was more the action that Moniker took rather than losing the domain itself. They did NOT contact me, communication only started once I opened a ticket, then bumped it a couple of days later. (A reply arrived 5 minutes after the bump). I only discovered that my domain had been suspended because it was included in the list of domains in the godaddy suspension email (not sure why?), then I checked WHOIS and saw it was suspended.

So what your rep told you is not true, they HAVE suspended a domain without discussion... or even a quick heads up to the owner.

I had to ask three times why they didn't contact me... their replies just kept ignoring the question.

Rowan - My apologies for the delay in responding as I am just returning from a business trip. Why didn't you contact me directly about this? As we've spoken in the past, I know you know that Moniker's legal dept contacts ALL clients prior to shutting down any sites.

Please email me directly at [email protected] with the details of this incident and I will have legal check into it immediately.

Again, my apologies for the delay.

Thanks!

I suggested to Moniker that perhaps I could change the name servers away from the whitelabel (since that was what was blocked) and they agreed and unsuspended my domain... but now privacy has been DEACTIVATED, my details are shown in full, which means that any of the WHOIS archiving services now have a history record of that.

Where will this clusterfuck end... I think I'm just going to delete this stupid domain...
