i'm hearing good things about Windows 7, have you upgraded to it?

A couple of our peeps here at the office are using it (and digging it).

Have you switched over yet? if yes, how do you like it - did it meet or exceed your expectations?

I upgraded to it. Only incrementally better than vista, drivers seemed a bit more stable. Since moved to all Mac machines.

I just upgraded from win2k to windows 7, been less than 24 hours. Overall it's rather fast, its stable, widgets are cool, every device was found without need of a cd, and it's very clean looking. I did a clean install, it took less than an hour to be back on the Internet.

Issue wise, when I installed Movie Maker and it failed to install... I tried again, and it installed.

Non real issue wise, I don't like that it takes up 500mb of ram doing nothing. It doesn't come with windows movie maker but you can download it. It's missing a few other windows basics too, like outlook or at least I haven't seen it yet. It also hides a lot of stuff, like settings files for programs you have installed - which was more annoying than anything.

I know it's only been 24 hours but I hope that helps.

I am not going to upgrade at home yet, the computers at my job will be upgrading this summer and I will see how it is first, most likely I'll just get a new computer with 7 if all is good. My wife has 7 on her laptop and seems very happy with it. I will keep my current computer also with XP Pro just in case some older software is not compatible with 7.

I actually did get the blue screen of death quite a lot during one week. But then it suddenly stopped. I like it a lot. Never used Vista.

I work my PC like a donkey going up a mountain loaded with bricks.

7 kicks ass. I have the 64 bit version on my main work monster. I also have the 32 bit on my secondary machine and on my laptop. Best PC experience I've ever had.

Nah... I still use XP and to tell the truth I'm not going to upgrade anything ...my machine works just perfectly, like swiss clock. It's super fast and got all the software I need.

Perhaps when I will need some another machine I will consider buying one with W7 preinstalled.

It's great. I even upgraded my netbook with 1 GB of ram to Win7 Premium and it runs smooth as silk. Using it to run a wall-mounted touchscreen in my house that is on 24/7. It never needs rebooting (although I had to a few times to install updates)

Seems much more stable than Vista Ultimate I am running on my desktop.

Can anyone tell me which version I need to get IIS with it? I bought a new PC that has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (it'll be here Wednesday) but I'm thinking that won't have IIS. I hope I can add it on, though.

I upgraded and I'm loving it. Stable, fast easy on the eyes.

I bought me a new vaio because my old one was running slower and slower and you know just getting old. But now I have cleaned her up a little, installed W7 and it runs really smooth and fast now.

Oh well, nothing wrong with having a perfectly fine laptop as a backup

the only windows machine I have is an Asus netbook, 1gb ram with XP on it. Probably wouldn't upgrade unless I got a free copy.

shedloads better than vista, i'm really happy with it and it gets a serious daily workout, had it for 2 months and so far no issues, stripping out alot of the widgets and turning off some of the ram intensive stuff like superfetch and windows search really brings it to life, seriously quick with 4gb ram.

generally positive feedback.

i tend to go with "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" which is why it's going to take me longer to switch from WinXP.

you gotta checkout MS site and their charts to see which ones have IIS in them. I personally enjoy Apache on my Win7

There are a bunch of reasons why I did. First off I use 64 bit and Photoshop 64 bit does NOT run on XP 64 bit. Only on Vista and 7
The next version of Premiere is going to be native 64 bit as well. And it too will not run on XP as 64 bit.

A lot of programs that are 64 bit won't run on XP and when they move to the next version they will have long left XP behind.

And of course in a few years there will be zero support for XP from Microsoft. http://support.microsoft.com/lifecyc...=en-gb&C2=1173

But the good news is that 7 really kicks ass. I loved XP. And when I went to Vista for the ability to use Photoshop 64 bit I was hating life. But 7 is like XP on steroids in my experience so far.
