Its over. Americans get first world health care.

All you low information morons can blow it all out your asshole. You just lost the big one. Rant on....no one cares. Its over.....lol

"This is a very proud night in the history of this Congress,"

President Obama mocked Republicans' campaign to try to repeal his new health care law, saying Thursday they should "Go for it" and see how well they fare with voters.

"Be my guest," Obama said

"Leaders of the Republican Party," Obama said, "they called the passage of this bill 'Armageddon.' Armageddon. 'End of freedom as we know it.' So after I signed the bill, I looked around to see if there were any asteroids falling or some cracks opening up in the earth. It turned out it was a nice day."

easy to create national healthcare with the stroke of a pen, harder to run it so it doesn't turn into third world healthcare like Canada, and hardest of all to pay for it. the American economy is already failing, paying for national healthcare could be its death blow.

from Obama's point of view, i don't think he cares, if the economy doesn't recover in a couple of years he's a one term president and he goes down in history as the longest shot to ever win the presidency, the first black president and the president who gave Americans guaranteed healthcare without feeling like they were second class citizens.

Now that is funny.....Dude, of the two countries...which economy is failing. Now think hard. Google it. Check your facts. Or just lift the toilet lid and contemplate your poor choices. Oh and that is with a functional health care system. LOLOLOLOL

Something needs to be changed with our healthcare system. I have a friend of mine who has water on the brain, millions of dollars in medical expenses in the past twenty years, no insurance, and no one will ever insure him.

I can't comment on the recent healthcare bill. Once the lies started flying around about it I just stopped listening.

What good will universal health care be when the government goes bankrupt. If they had serious cost reforms in the bill, like eliminating the tax break that enjoins health insurance to employers, & interstate competition, & real tort reform, & using the medicare pool to drive down drug prices, maybe the uninsured people could get insurance without government subsidies because they can suddenly afford it. We all know the bill is a sham because the hard part doesn't kick in for 4 years. & when it does, congress will just amend the bill to restore the spending cuts. Big joke.

THIS.

Are any of the Canadians on this board unhappy with their health care? I think Canada has a great healthcare system. All the Canadians I know aren't complaining. In fact, most of them think the healthcare pushback going on down here is insane.

ultimately the big reform here is the feds forcing the uninsured to buy insurance from price gouging insurers. so the poor are going to face a choice...shell out $10K plus in cash for insurance, or take it in the ass on the penalty come tax time. The working poor won't have the cash to pay the absurd rates. They will instead get ass fucked by the steep penalty & lose whatever refund they had. In the end they will still be uninsured, & will get killed by the penalty.

i really have no clue what the democrats are celebrating. The drug companies & insurance companies got everything they wanted. & when the next election cycles go by & nothing changed, & deficits keep exploding, people will wonder why they wasted a year to get this bill.

here is the ANNEX for the health care program posted just this week!

If you want the full report - go here! New Views on Health Care
We could save 400 BILLION a year
by just paying doctors directly!

ANNEX

(1)

In any type of pay system for Health Services,
where the source of funds is TAX money.

A fair price to pay Health Care
Professionals under this new idea is:
$100.oo per person per month.

(2)

In the case of Nursing home residents.
A fair price to pay Health Care
Professionals under this new idea is:
$150.oo per nursing home resident per month.

Future Possibilities under this plan to consider

Future Possibility - 1

(3)

A client under this plan must leave the city in which his/her
doctor/clinic is in and must receive medical attention.

Possible Solution

Cooperative 'A' and other cooperatives around the country,
go into contract and agree to create a 'HOSPITAL ACCOUNT',
in which they all pay into this account a set fee per month.

These Cooperatives seek Hospital Group 'Z' and agree to pay
it, under contract* (also see *'GRACE SWING' below); a set
fee per month.

Therefore, if the possibility that their client should need
medical attention (when outside of their home city), their
client can visit any hospital under the Hospital Group 'Z'
umbrella and receive the care they need.

Future Possibility - 2

(4)

The Cooperatives secure 10 corporations to
pay them to give Health Care to its employees.

The Cooperative(s) set up a 'HOSPITAL ACCOUNT' and go into
contract with Hospital Group 'X'. Hospital Group 'X' gives The
Cooperative(s) access to it's operating facilities/surgeons,
in the event that it is ever needed.

Let us say for this example (Future Possibility - 2), that
The Cooperative(s) agreed to pay (under contract) to Hospital
Group 'X', $10,000.oo per month (with no additional charges to
either The Cooperative(s) or Their Clients) for access to its
facilities, in the case their client needs surgery.

The Cooperative(s) lose 2 corporations that were paying them,
therefore can afford $8,000.oo payment to Hospital Group 'X'. (The
Cooperatives must provide Proof of Corporation failure to Hospital
Group 'X'.

* GRACE SWING

The Cooperatives and Hospital Group 'X' agree to a 20% 'GRACE SWING'.
That is, within their contract with Hospital Group 'X', they can pay
up to 80% of $10,000.oo without penalty and keep the hospital doors
open.

In the event that The Cooperative(s) can pay less than 80%, Hospital
Group 'X' agrees to accept any amount under 80% (say for this example
The Cooperatives can pay $7,000.oo or 70% to Hospital Group 'X'). The
remaining $1,000.oo can work out as a 'Business Loan' from Hospital
Group 'X' to The Cooperative(s) at a set rate - example: 3 years at 3%
interest. For the sake of leaving the Hospital doors open.

Key points for Hospital Group 'X' to consider

(1)

The Cooperative(s) payments are dependent on corporation payment,
they are to be held harmless, in the case of corporation failure.

(2)

In the event of below 80% payment of their contract. Hospital Group 'X'
is to consider: under their contract with the cooperative(s), they get
paid a set fee per month, whether or not their facilities are used or
not and the Business Loan makes up the difference.

Hospital Group 'X' should consider further,
70% of something is better that 100% of nothing.

i have seen the health care system up close unfortunately the last few years and it has been fine to amazing.

pretty much all the negative shit you see if from professional wackos, complainers, the mentally ill and hypochondriacs, the comparison would be like a lady suing mcdonalds because their coffee is too hot.

any negatives i encountered were simply with the nature of any bureaucracy, not with the health care system per se.

I will agree with the rest of the Canadians in this thread.

With health care available to 100% of the population for FREE ... our health care system is pretty damn good.

Maybe I would suggest a small 20$ fee every time you go just to deter the people that have a small cough and run directly to the free hospital.

so much to agree and disagree with in this thread. I am a bit jealous of the Canadian system... I did what George Bush senior suggested and I have 'asked a Canadian' and so far all of them I have talked to love their health care system. I think the reform bill as it is has become a joke. Some improvements but nowhere near enough.

Personally myself I need 2 surgeries on my eyes that I know I won't be able to afford even with the new law thats been passed

Is that why there's talk about Canada getting an American type private system, because their current health care is becoming unsustainable? And this is for only 33-35 million people. Try our population with our current deficits.

When the asshats who put this bill together don't exempt themselves from it I will be openminded about it. As it stands the bill and the process are/were a complete joke.

Hiring 17,000 IRS agents to intimidate taxpayers??? Are you mother fucking kidding me.

Grats... to extreme majority of Americans who have been wanting something like this for decades!

Personally, I went into the Marines to help America, to protect us if needed and fight for our ideas. To me, helping Americans and each other, over helping myself is what serving ones country is really about.

If you aren't willing to sacrifice for other Americans, you don't deserve to be American.

The healthcare bill is an extreme win for our Country - one of the key steps to rebuilding our nation from the inside out!

As you can see, the two people that support this bill in this thread have no idea what's in the bill, nor any concept of reality. I didn't think we'd get our clowns so early this morning

DOH!!! We are actually borrowing money...here is a nice article for you to read with CBO stats that the politicians love to quote:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...-to-90-of-gdp/

Our debt will be 90% of our GDP....we are definitly going to experience some serious change...thats for sure

PS. A government forcing you to purchase something from a private company is not a win...its tyranny.

Actually bro, the CBO is being a little generous for the Obama Administration. Total Adjusted Debt to GDP is 130.6%.

While I do think my country needs health care reform, the current bill is bad mojo and with more the half of the states filing injunctions based on the 10th amendment, this could get very ugly.

Its great that everyone is required to pay into this now (how that's enforced will be interesting) My concerns are that the gov't ran services i.e. DMV, post office, medicare, fannie mae, freddie mac to name a few have unequivalently failed. How can we expect this to be any different? Take the post office for instance, the price of stamps and postages continue to rise, yet there only 2 people working the counter everytime you go. If it was a private sector entity it would've failed along time ago (without tax payer funds) in competiting w/ the the likes of ups, fedex... Happy friday.

All of the states that mistakenly feel this is unconstitutional will fail in their ginned up scared fearful lawsuits and accomplish nothing but a slight continuation of tantrum.

Well said. In a nutshell, the fat lady is singing. It will be a sad Friday night at the Roadrunner Bar and Grill in Bumfuck, Texas. The good ol' boys will be crying in their beer as the The Sage Brush Boys, behind the chicken wire play "Walkin' on the Fighting Side of Me".

If you looked at ranking based based solely on quality, The US is tops and that is indisputable. It's the reason the rich of the world come here to get treatment, our problem is with access for those of lesser means

Several legal scholars have been writing about this over the past few days and its appears there is a valid legal argument for the states. Never in the history of this country has the federal or state government ordered the citizens to buy a product from a private company. While that may not be what most conservative have a problem with, its going to be the basis of any legal case.

I'm eager to see how this plays out in the SCOTUS

Great, is going to go up without healthcare going up.... we will need healthy people to rebuild the nation.

They aren't forcing you.... if you want to buy it from an insurance company, then do so... if you don't want to buy it, then you don't get the rebate..

No big deal.

You aren't required to pay in.... if you choose not to have any insurance at all, you don't get a rebate... ie you pay in through taxes, could be a sales tax.. and they want to give you a refund if you opt-in for the insurance plan - otherwise it's like a fine and you don't get your money back.

The post office, Medicare, highways, railways, etc run perfectly fine. Without the post office, business across the country would fail - UPS and Fedex do not send mail. UPS and Fedex are under the same federal rules as the post office because it's your packages.

Imagine if a state wins a case. How many hundreds of thousands of citizens will leave immediately for a state that lets them get care in their own country? I mean, it makes one wonder if they're really thinking past their noses. Do you think everyone is rich and healthy enough to buy insurance, but they just dont want to?

If your state doesnt participate, then your citizens dont get the benefit, and you doom your entire state health care system into the old way until they all leave as well for greener pastures. There is no "winning" via knee-jerk lawsuit.

Once again the marxist nation destroyers win. They SHOULD win because their opposition has allowed themselves to become too fat, lazy, and stupid to mount a decent defense.

Now comes the amnesty for 12 million or more illegal aliens. And how many family members will each of those 12 million illegals sponsor? It is really over now, just a matter of time.

Wow, they really did destroy this country in about 50 years. This is proof that a small number of people working together as a team can really change the world in a short amount of time. Obama is just a tool who was groomed by elites to do exactly what he is doing now. They have such a tight leash on this guy that he does not even speak at a Kindergarten class without his trusty dual tele-prompters. I would not be shocked at all to see Obama "taken out" so as to create more division between blacks and whites. Divide and conquer is the name of the game. Congrats to the winners I guess.

I would say modern liberalism helped destroy our country, with a lot of jackass politicians. Don't worry, they'll die out eventually.
