I was reading this news story http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100417/...rijuana_expo_1 and one of the commentators claimed that "no one has died from pot".
Anyone know if this is true?

I'm assuming he meant pot alone not pot mixed with crack, heroine, shrooms, alcohol, etc.

Although I don't smoke, if the claim is true, it does make you wonder about the wisdom of the current marijuana prohibition laws...

It is true.... there is not ONE SINGLE DEATH attributed to marijuana TO DATE. ANYWHERE.

And the laws are changing.... slowly....
but they're gonna get a big boost in November. Full legalization, up to an ounce per person, over 21 years old, is on the ballot here in Cali.

And as broke as we are here on the west coast.... I don't see how it's not going to pass.
And then, of course, we all know.... what happens in Cali spreads to the rest of the world. It will only be a matter of time before the Cali precedent overturns Federal Law.

And then we're talking about a whole new brave world.

Would have been decriminalized years ago here in Canada.

The reason it hasn't yet is the 'big brother' syndrome and how worried we were about what our "war on drugs' southern leaders were trying to accomplish.

Because the marijuana didn't kill you. Your own stupid actions killed you.
Things like alcohol, meth, junk, coke, prescription pills, huffing turpentine, etc. .... ACTUALLY can kill you.

There is no amount of weed you can smoke that will kill you. You'll pass out before that's even remotely possible.

There's a difference.

But things like booze.... (and many other things)... can actually cause you to die without intervention from a bus, train, rope, knife, gun, high building, toilet bowl cleaner, etc.... all on their own.

MJ does not. You can't kill yourself just by smoking too much weed. It is not possible.

Always a bong.... double filtered if possible. Tincture or baked goods or a vaporizer are even better. No smoke. But things like cookies are a little weird to me.... it sneaks up on you, and regulating it is not easy.

I guarantee that there are many more "side deaths" attributable to alcohol, etc than marijuana.

Marijuana is not lethal to the human body like heroin, alcohol, meth, coke, prescription pills, etc.

But the weed and/or the alcohol in the situation you've described, is NOT what killed them.

Look at the facts in your own statement.

If she had sat on the sofa and drank enough, it would have killed her eventually... by way of alcohol poisoning. If she had sat on the sofa long enough and smoked weed enough.... she would have gone to sleep and been fine when she woke up.

The driving off the cliff was a lack of responsibility.... not toxicity.

I drink and smoke. I don't do either of those things and then go driving. Why? Because I'm not stupid and I'm a responsible adult.

Substance abuse does impair peoples judgment & abilities, thats why DWI is a big crime. Now you & many other people behave responsibly when you use pot or alcohol.
