:mad ERGONOMIC KEYBOARDS - WTF? I can't tyoe fir shit with this thung

Seriously, FFS, how long does it take to get used to these damn things?

I bought a "MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000" today as I'm into my 2nd keyboard for the year already. It's horrible, the keys go up a mountain either side.

I'll give it a day before it goes in the bin, it's slowing me down working, constantly retyping shiz.

Apparently it takes a week to get used to the layout I've been reading. I suppose my wrists will thank me in the end.

What is that, a trackball?

Never seen one in Australia. Pretty backward here in certain tech ways. I hear there are keyboards and mice with no wires available these days - is that true?

Takes less than a day for your fingers to lose their memory and start learning how to use one of these things, for anyone wanting to know.

Man...I tried those so many times but always went back to "normal" keyboards.

I use too many different computers every day. For instance, I'm in my office right now on my main machine, directly behind me is my accounting computer, across the room is Claudia-Marie's cam studio with my laptop, in the house is my secondary work machine in my bedroom, and I also use my linux machine for backups. Plus I have a keyboard on my VS2480 in my recording studio.

I move around on these machines a lot so unless I want to buy an ergonomic keyboard for all of them, or drag a keyboard from machine to machine (including laptop), I guess I'm stuck on this regular keyboard for life.

I will say that my friends who made the transition say it is world's better.

My programmer said the same thing Robbie. I sit at the one machine for 90% of the time, so it's not such a big deal for me.

I bought it as I was finding after 10 hours hacking away at a keyboard, my old lady wrists were starting to ache - RSI I guess.

Does yours have a gentle arc or is it split down the middle like their earlier ergonomic keyboards?

I've got a "Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000" keyboard, the T/G/B/H/N keys are a little bigger and the whole layout is wavy but it's not too bad. Did take me a while to get used to though.

I use random junk passwords so it's more like a mechanical sequence than thinking press U, then lowercase P, etc, so at first I was getting my passwords wrong a lot!

Your one just curves from the looks of things Rowan, mine literally has a bump towards the centre, so the middle keys are half an inch higher than the outer Q A Z keys.

It's this thing:

http://www.cc.gatech.edu/~eugenem/rsi/ms4000.jpg in case no hot linking.

One thing pisses me off though with it, there's no full media keys, so you have to assign the web or search button to be "Stop Music". Bit lame.

Jeez, slow day in here, I'm even boring myself.

I have the same keyboard and it took me a few weeks to fully get used it, but now I can't live without it. I go to someone else's house and use their normal computer and I'm like a monkey trying to fuck a football and just can't use it.

Holy cow, look at that thing! It's even more split than the original white Microsoft natural keyboard... do you touch type?

My keyboard has vol+/-, play/pause and mute buttons which I find handy.

I think you'll find most webmasters in here will be able to type around 60+ wpm with 98% accuracy.

I use that keyboard too at my office. A week to get used to it seems about right.

Once you get used to it, I think it's a bit more relaxing to type at than a regular one. I don't have any problems switching back and forth between regular and this one at all though.

Seems like it would help cut down on typos from when you sit down at your keyboard and start off with your fingers off by one key on a "normal" keyboard.

It makes me look dumb when I do that and for instance I'm on ICQ and try to type the word "hot" and end up typing "kpt" instead lol

With the split keyboard that would be eliminated
