Just tell them you backed up the disc in case it got scratched while in your care - then say it DID get scratched so you just sent back the working copy.

So long as they pay their subscription fees Netflix doesn't give a shit if people copy discs. A heck of a lot of people do this and I'm sure not a day goes by that they don't get a bunch returned to them "on accident".
