Anyone use Yahoo PPC advertising? Not what it used to be...
I have been a Yahoo PPC advertiser for over two years now and when I first started out until about maybe six months ago it had done really well for me. I was able to bid on many adult related keywords for only 5 to 10 cents each and get great amounts and quality of traffic.
Lately over the past six months I have seen Yahoo slowly raise the minimum bids for many adult keywords and also make it more expensive to get traffic on keywords that used to cost less. For example you could get lots of traffic on the keyword, "adult dvds" for 5 to 10 cents and now you have to pay 40 to 50 cents for the same amount of traffic you got before only now it costs you 5x more and the sales results are worse than before. Who else here is a Yahoo PPC advertiser and what has your experience been with them? I'm afraid this is about the time to drop off their program and look for other quality traffic methods. If there are any... ![]() |

Are you a program owner or affiliate? Seems like it would be hard to come out on-top as an affiliate using PPC campaigns these days.

I have way better conversions with Yahoo PPC then with AdWords. Maybe they have increased fees now that they are partner with Bing.

The avg keyword bids have gone up since they began promoting demographic targeting (where you can raise your bids by a certain % depending on the demographic). Their partner network has grown larger as well, but is worth shit, IMO. I opt out of it. Yahoo has never converted as well as Google for me, and I think it is partly because of yahoo's blunt keyword match types: standard and advanced. Long tails dont work as well in that environment.

It can be done. I convert well on ebony and fetish PPC campaigns. But you have to stick with the long-tails, geotarget, and daypart the hell out of campaigns to earn a buck.

I use yahoo quite a bit, havnt noticed any changes in my campaigns. What I have been trying to figure out though is what will happen to the adult vertical come the merge. As of now, ms adcenter does not allow adult ads. Yet to get an answer from a rep.

I haven't noticed any big changes in the PPC prices but I'm not using Yahoo for adult terms.

What my Yahoo rep told me is that depending on your ad quality 1 to 5 you might pay different amounts for the same keywords. So for example, if your ad has a quality of 2 then you'd pay a lot more than if someone else had an ad quality of 4. All I can say is that it definitely costs more now and I'm trying to get it more reasonable again.

yeah but who determines the ad quality. It's very subjective, just an excuse for them to jack up rates.
