i know but never had as much problems with the old fashioned ball mice. when you're doing cutouts and masks in photoshop with a mouse you need a mouse that isn't jumping around. it's frustrating.

I had more problems with the ball getting stuck on those things and was way harder to use than the laser style one.

I was using one of those just recently (optical mouse died) and the ball picks up dirt, which then coates the four little wheels that pick up the ball movements. The mouse stops responding. You have to disassemble the thing and try to get the strips of dirt off the wheels, which is not easy. I don't know how we lived with those things until optical mice arrived.

Go to a second hand computer shop if you really really want one. They are shit though and you'd do much better just to keep your current one and your mouse-mat clean.
