Agreed.

It was not even remotely close to BoB.

i wouldn't say it sucked, it was ok

the last episode was neat at the end when they recapped on many of the characters, showed you their real picture and what they did for careers after they returned home.

A few were still alive.

Really made you think how lucky most of us have it now compared to those days back then.

I felt it had its moments, but overall it kind of fell a short. There were great episodes, then it would be followed up by a so so episode.

Overall I give it a B, but Band of Brothers was an A and was by far a better series.

Did that on BoB too, but because you actually knew who the fuck the characters were in BoB, you were actually impressed.

I liked it and the story told was a good one. But I do agree it was not as good as band of brothers

I gave up way back at the beginning but figured I'd wait for them all to air, then rent the DVD. I'll watch them all over a weekend. It's no BoB, that's for sure.

I liked the first and last episode, there was one in the middle with the pistol that was cool. Everything else seemed like filler.

I didn't even like BoB, and The Pacific was worse than that.

The only character I didn't despise was Sledge. Leckey was a big baby. Too much shit was made up, and historical events were fucked with to make them more dramatic. That and the intro + last time on the pacific + tom hanks having oral sex with himself took up 10 minutes in episodes that were at best 50 minutes long.

I didn't even watch the last episode. That's how terrible it was. I oculdn't bring myself to punish meself any longer

The problem with sledge is that every time i saw him, i thought of him in the jeep after it went over the cliff in jurassic park. Also i still call him tim.

Sucked compared to Band of Brothers, I was really disappointed in how they didn't really show how miserable the conditions they fought through were.

I thought the Pacific was great, unless you compared it to Band of Brothers. Few shows will measure up to BoB and the Pacific didn't have a Stephen Ambrose book as it's origin.

I only caught the very first ep of The Pacific and I thought it was ok. I forgot to set the DVR for the remaining episodes.

If Band of Brothers had never existed, then The Pacific would have seemed much better. It's gotta be hard to catch the lightning in a bottle that BoB was.

The Okinawa episode was definitely hardcore.

It's not as bad as TREME though! What a self important heap of trash that is? Hard to believe the guy who created THE WIRE created this mess.

Everybody is a one hit wonder these days cause the have to waste all their time developing their salesmanship and networking and they have no time to work on their talent to actually make the product when they make the sale.

I watched the first 2 episodes and gave it a break because I was bored. The Wire had the same effect on me, but that turned out be my favorite show of all time. I don't think Treme will get to those levels, because I don't know how much drama they can milk from that setting.

THE WIRE and DEADWOOD had the best developed characters I've ever seen in my life. Both creators created complete crap for their second series. HBO is pretty much a complete piece of shit now. SHOWTIME is way better and STARZ is starting to blow SHOWTIME away

As far as TREME, they can't get through a scene without mentioning NEW ORLEANS and jacking off over it. I never heard such silly shit in my life. People trying to make it in Hollywood don't talk about the town that much. They're making me hate New Orleans and I used to love that city LOL.

It definitely seems like David Simon has a serious hard-on and affection for New Orleans, that will be a hard sell for anyone north of that area.

Speaking of STARZ, have you watched Party Down and Spartacus? Both are kick ass TV shows.

It is not as gripping as B. of B., but it is a good series nevertheless. It makes you happy that we were not born in an era when you had no choice but to go fight in a very ruthless war...

Yup, love them both, and Gravity is pretty good to in an odd way. Also they have this new thing coming out that I can't tell what it is, but looks like it's about the crusades or sword in the stone or something.

I think to compete with that showtime thing THE BORGIAS about papacy incest and murder and everything. That looks good too. Showtime still hasn't really sold out yet.

How could a series, (A SERIES I ASK) about killing JAPS in WWII not end with the dropping of the ATOMIC BOMB? Were we trying to soften that? Did they think it was overused (unlike nazi's and vampires lol)? I mean what the fuck? I watched the entire series cause I expected to see the bomb drop, and unlike band of brothers, I never once hated the JAPS in the entire series (which brings up lots of other questions), and the JAPS where just as bad at the time if not worse than the NAZI'S, don't ever doubt this, seriously.

JAPS and NAZI'S same side, just as bad! JAPS where raping CHINESE WOMEN with their bayonets, PREGNANT CHINESE WOMEN!

It wasn't really about the war -- it was about 3 soldiers in the Pacific campaign. The bomb is another story.

Yeah, but do we really give a shit about 3 CRUMMY SOLDIERS in the scope of things? That was my problem with RYAN'S PRIVATES, and I thought they figured that out with BAND OF BROTHERS but guess not.

On the other hand, if THE WIRE had been a series that didn't care about the individuals it wouldn't have worked so maybe there is just a writing problem.
