Posting old unseen on the net music videos to YouTube - Worth it or not? - GoFuckYourself.com

I have quite a few old VHS music videos that have not been seen anywhere on the net. Good ones. Is it worth it to watermark them with a site and let them rip from my YT account?

Currently a lot of videos are not avail on YT in the actual video version. Just a pic of an album and you listen to the song. There are also often rarely seen videos from television shows, ect that are better than the orig.

For example I have the orig B-52s performing Channel Z from SNL in about 1990. Today you can only see the rehearsal. This would be a high viewed vid in no time. So, should I be posting them to YT? Like now.

Anyone who has posted a few vids on YT, can you give me a general thumbs up or thumbs down if there is any traffic to be had from this or if is worth it in any way monetarily.

I would love to hang with the YT crowd and just comment on vids all day. So maybe I should hang there, get a following as "the guy with all the great old vids".

There's a reason music videos are difficult to find on YouTube, since they scan the sound tracks for potential copyright violations.

After uploading, you may get an error message regarding the sound track violating copyright with suggestions, including uploading an alternative sound track.

Even if no error message at upload time, you may discover the soundtrack completely removed sometime later on.

IMO it would end up being a waste of time. Some of them may last, but most of them will probably end up getting flagged and removed since you don't own the copyrights to these things.

Thanks guys. Yes copyrights are a problem. And yes it would be quite a bit of time to get say 50 good vids transcoded and so forth.

Plus Google prob doesnt take too kindly to watermarking vids to point to porn sites no matter how tricky you are.

It is "YOU" Tube, not "I post the other guys" Tube

Oh well, I guess if I was a member of the idol rich I could post them for the fun of it. Maybe I'll post just one good one like the B-52's one and see what happens. Get my feet wet. Never posted to YT before.
