So, I bought a Juicer...

So i decided to try juicing. Heard about the health benefits of juicing, so i started yesterday. Gonna start getting at least 2 glasses of greens, vegetables and fruits per day.

Started yesterday, so far im pretty impressed with how i feel and how the juice tastes.

Anybody else juice?? Please chime in with your experiences and juice recipes. This is the one i picked up from William Sonoma.

That looks like a nice juicer. Is it as easy to clean as they suggest and how moist is the pulp? Do you think you are getting as much juice as possible?

Every morning I put a banana, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, watermelon, grapes, cantaloupe, papaya, pineapple some black cherry juice, a yogurt and a few ice cubes in the blender. Quick and easy cleanup straight to the dishwasher. I've owned a couple juicers and the up keep is a pain in the ass.

I thought Jack LaLanne was the Gold Standard as far as Juicing.

The guy is maybe a bit annoying but for 95 looks better than some 60 yr olds and still works out 2 hrs a day.

maintenance sucks... but its really nothing more than anything else.

Since you seem to plan to do it daily, just set up a section in your kitchen with a towel. Do your juicing and just rinse and brush that shit out and let it sit there on the towel drying til next use.

The above recipe sounds delicious!

Jesus H Christ The Breville is $399 although Amazon shows some lower than that.

Jack Lallane about $100 and $150 for the Deluxe model.

Breville looks like it retains more pulp.

I have that exact juicer. You should have bought it on Amazon, it's $150 less. Anyway, I juice every single day. I never get crazy with all the recipes. I almost always have 3 carrots/1 green apple. It's absolutely imperative to clean it right afterwards while it's "fresh" or it's a pain in the ass. Super hot water and that scrub brush that comes with it does the trick.

I also bought the the Breville citrus press and squeeze my own orange juice every morning. I buy 40lbs of oranges every two weeks from the farmers market. Store bought OJ doesn't even come close.

No you don't. The one you got is the 1000 watt 2 speed, which i looked at and was about to get. Saw it on Amozon.com and everything. The one i got is 1200 watts and has 5 speeds+has 2 different juicing discs and can only be bought at William Sonoma. The 2nd juicing disc does bananas, blueberries, strawberries and other soft fruits that would not traditionally be used in a juicer.

If i did not buy this one and went for the 1000 watt one, i would always be wondering if that extra disc and extra 200 watts and 5 different speeds make a difference. Im way OCD like that.

I was very surprised on how fast and easy it is to clean. That was one reason i went with the all stainless steal style.

That was my 1st choice, then i researched the shit out of all the best juicers on the market and learned a lot about a lot.

1st thing i learned was that the Stainless Jack LaLanne Juicer has a high speed of 3,500 RPM. And the one i chose, setting one does 3,500 RPM and setting 5 does 13,000. the high and lower RPM makes for a dryer pulp with different fruits and vegetables.

Surprisingly very easy to clean and the pulp is very dry. That was the 1st thing i checked as i juiced yesterday.

My bar tabs are higher than what this thing cost. I make enough where the price wasn't an issue. Speed, power, quick clean up were the deciding factors.

Here were 4 clips that helped me decide to go with the brand of juicer i chose:

This guy knows nothing about juicing and just hammers the shit out of this juicer with a bunch of different fruits and vegetables and the juicer didn't even flinch. Handled everything with such ease.

Then you got this red neck who beats the shit out of his juicer with 15lbs of fruits and vegetables every single day and his juicer takes it like nothing.

This demo made me defiantly not want the Jack LaLain juicer. As you see the Vertical auger style was way better and is probably the best juicer out there. You will get more juicer per pound of fruits+vegetables and less air added to your juice, but from what i have learned, it is prone to leaking and was a pain to clean up. Ease of cleaning and no mess while juicing were major factor for my choice of juicers.

And this clip really sold me. There are zero leaks and zero external mess and i clean the juicer about 30 seconds faster.

If any of you guys are looking for juicers, i hope the above helps you make your decision. In conclusion, i fee that the Omega 330 up right Auger is the best for getting the most out of your fruits+vegetables, but the mess it leaves on the table tops and its longer clean up time made me choose the Breville brand.

Now keep in mind there are 2 different Brevilles i am referring to. The $400 one, which is 12 watts, 13,000 RPM, 5 speed controls and 2 different juicing discs. Thats the one i chose and is the higher mode than the Breville in the video clips. (the $100 difference wasn't a factor in my decision)

And you have the $300(which i have seen on amizon.com for about $260) one that is 1000 watts, 2 speeds, one disc only, but still does 13,000 RPM's. This one is also a fine product.

As for the Omega 330 Upright Auger versus the Breville, i don't know for a fact which one gets you more juice per pound, but i do know which is easier to clean and which one looks better in my kitchen.

I have this juicer. Start with a $200 juicer and if you can stick with it then get this (pictured) $1,000 Angel Juicer. You will really notice the difference and you will actually save money because it extracts so much more juice than the cheaper units.

Drink veggie juice and follow it up with a bowl of chopped up raw grass red buffalo meat and you will be soaring with the eagles.

Anything that promotes consuming fruit or vegetables as part of your diet is good. But I prefer to eat my veggies with my meal and my fruit solid. I always have some fruit as the last part of each meal of the day. The fiber slows the absorption in your body and the chewing, swallowing and pressure in your stomach helps stimulate your body to send the satiation singals to your brain, which in turn helps control appetite.

The trick is mixing all of the vegetables that you are not taking in everyday or have the time to graze on such as celery, carrots and spinach, beats, broccoli, cucumbers, lettuce, etc. with apples, oranges grapes, pineapples etc. Pretty much mix greens with anything sweet or citrusy. When juiced in the right doses it all goes down really easy and actually tastes really good.

Had juice for breakfast and made enough for dinner. I stored it in a bottle that i was able to take the air out. So i make enough for now and later and only clean one mess.

Its pretty cool and very filling. Not necessarily trying to diet, but am starting to take my health a little bit more seriously and thought that juicing would give me those extra vitamins, minerals, etc, that im usually not getting. Also, i am looking to get a boost in the morning without coffee, energy drinks, energy shots or caffeine supplements.

I know this is a board full of webmasters, but im curious how many swear by juicing or have tried it. Please share your experiences.

Thanks for the review, Dave. I have been wanting to get one for a while and reviewed several and they all had cleaning issues or wet pulp, crap like that. Sounds like you found the winner. I think I will buy it for myself for a late father's day present.

Speaking of which, happy Father's Day to you.

I eat vegetable with all of my meals too. Just wanted to add juicing to my diet, because you can get that much more out of fruits+vegetable that much faster. Just wanted to try something different. Im not looking to replace proper eating with just juicing. Im looking to supplement my proper diet with juicing. Fuck look at Jack LaLain! That guy is all about juicing and he is 95 years old. Thats enough for me to add juicing to my diet.

Yea, clean up was one of my serious concerns when making my choice. I get zero drip on my counter top and it is as easy to clean as the video above. Also keep in mind that guy juiced over 15lbs of carrots and flew through clean up in less than 4 min.

I will give a more complete report in 10 days.

Happy Fathers Day to you to BadDog.

They are really good. Been researching those too. They are great for softer fruit and emulsification. Which has a different consistency than juicing, but still a great way for mixing fruits and vegetables.

I am looking to get one of those next week. This is the one im looking at.Vitamix.com Its a bit pricy, but this is what they use at Jamba juice and Starbucks. If it can go through the daily grinds at those shops, then that will be the last blender i ever buy. I am a firm believer of buying it once and buying it right

Ahh, I just briefly looked at it and thought it was the same one. When I bought mine last year, it was their top model and I remember WS had the same model for well over $100 more than Amazon. Looks like that second disc producing more of a puree? I can't imagine how much juice you can get out of a banana, blueberries and strawberries. You'd have to add a ton. In any case, juicing actually has some amazing healing powers as well. My parents are totally into natural remedies and there's a whole juicing regiment for just about every ailment, including cancer. It's pretty amazing http://www.happyjuicer.com/juicing-i...on-therapy.asp.

High RPM juicers like the juiceman cause heath and whip up the juice so it oxidizes thereby destroying much of the nutrients. Make sure to always get a juicer that is really slow. The cheap units are the ones that are too fast.

Please share your experiences.
that's good stuff. the vegetables are actually the hardest part of my diet to get the amount needed down the hatch, so i've been making up for that with low-sodium v8.

for me, v8 gets VERY hard to drink after drinking 1-2 6oz. servings every day. i was actually going to start a thread about the lack of a v8 alternative, there's no competition for v8! there's lakewood organic veg juice and it taste really good but it still tastes like v8. v8 splash has high fructose corn syrup, easily one of the worst things you can put in your body and synthetic vitamins, which i also avoid.

Eat the fruit rather than drink the juice and it will do you a whole lot of good.

I drink vegetable juice, cranberry juice, tea, and water everyday so to try to get myself off of soda. My skin has improved.

bottom line is you got taken for $300

you could have gotten exactly same quality juicer for no more than $100

yeah juicers tend to cut out some of the fibre in the filtering... but if you don't normally get a lot of fruit and vegetables in you in a day it makes for a quick alternative at least..

I pick up a V8 Fusion once in a while. It's got vegetable and fruit juice mixed. Straight up, it's not that fantastic.. but the "purple one" mixed with some real grape juice is good. And the "orange one" mixed with real orange juice is not bad either.

A real juicer would be nice, especially for maybe some homebrew wine. Thanks for the review.

i tend to agree. it's also not hard to get the required 30-32 grams fiber daily from other sources.

I would not go as far as to say "much" of the nutrients are destroyed. I would say that sum may be destroyed in the higher RPM process. But keep in mind, you also destroy brain cells when you sneeze.

From what i read and researched you are technically correct. Thats why the slow "Auger" style juicers are preferred. But with what you are drinking in a full glass of juice, you are getting more vitamins, minerals and nutrients than your body can process at one time. What your body doesn't process and use, it will piss out of your system. Think about when you take B12 vitamins and then you go to the bathroom. You piss out florescent yellow, because your body cant processes all of it.

I definitely love your input and value your opinion when it comes to Juicing.

Dont like the taste of V8 or V8 splash. I like the control when it comes to making things taste the way i want it to taste. If its to blan, i add apples, grapes or oranges to it. If its too sweet, i can add celery, or any green vegetables too it. The unlimited combinations that i can make with a juicer is the appeal over buying a V8.

I agree with you. I love eating fruit as is. I did not buy this Juicer for fruit consumption,(thats what my girl uses it for though). I use the fruit to make all of the green vegetables more palatable. If you juice a bunch of green vegetables and don't add any fruits, it will taste like shit. You add an apple or orange to that same drink, it actually tastes really good.

In short, i use fruits to make the green vegetables go down easy, because i couldn't deal with the taste of spinach, celery or broccoli juice alone.

Yea, in your small world you would be right, but you would also be the same guy looking at my Presidential Rolex and say "you could have gotten a Timex cheaper".

This looks like a great way to get your daily dosage of fruits and veggies. If you ever have the time, check out this documentary:

http://www.amazon.com/Beautiful-Trut.../dp/B001J66JQ8

It talks a lot about the effects of juicing and a plant based diet in regards to thwarting cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc.

I've now got this product bookmark'd. Thanks OP.

Oh, so you just like throwing money down the shitter for the hell of it.

A $10 citizen watch would do the same job as your presidential rolex (if not better)

Cheap juicers are pieces of shit. Even $100 ones are pieces of shit. If you're going to buy one, buy one that works.

Soda is a serious mother fucker. When i drink it, i seem to crave it that much more. When i cut it out, after 2 weeks, i never seem to crave it. When i drink soda, my thing is Diet Pepsi.

Drink lots of water, it will do you wonders.

blender is the way to go. I'm not as consistent. However, I go a couple times a week. Strawberries, blue berries, oat meal, raspberries, banana, and some ice.
