We went to the movies and watched shrek in 3D We all got a pair of plastic 3d glasses so I thought ..yeah ill keep mine and try it on the net to see what 3Dporn looks like.. I tried a few pics and movies and the glasses dont work ..so whats the difference as I thought you could use any 3D glasses to watch any 3d movies, but they sure as hell dont work when watching 3d movies on the net

They are "real 3d" glasses whatever thats supposed to mean .. but these have both yellow lenses not like the old ones with the red/cyan lenses

There are different kinds of 3D anaglyph (red/cyan or red/green or red/blue and a few other color combos) You need the right color combos to go with the glasses and photos.

Another is polarization which is generally the kind you get at movies theatres now adays. There are horizontal/verticle polarization which require horizontal/vertical polarized images as well as circular. Each requiring the right images and glasses.

Lastly are shutter 3d from the new 3d tvs. They require their own specific type of glasses for each brand for the most part.

NONE OF THIS IS COMPATIBLE EXCEPT WITH ITS OWN KIND OF TECHNOLOGY! You need the exact glasses that go with the media you are watching or it will do nothing.

Real 3d is a type of polarization. Which only work on images/video made in that Real 3d format.

There are LOTS of differences.

First, forget Red/Green glasses. They are very old technology and they suck. They are a gimmick at best.

In the movies, you are wearing SHUTTER GLASSES. Each lens is an LCD "Shutter" that opens and closes 24 times each second (12 times each eye), in time with the movie projector which is showing either the "Right eye" image or the "left eye" image, in sync with your glasses.

iMax I believe has a faster rate but I don't know what it is.

3D TV's (and soon 3D computer monitors) refresh at 120 times or faster per minute, or 60 times for each eye, producing a much better 3D image than what you get in the movies. LCN Shutter glasses much match this speed which is why they are so expensive at the moment ($200 + per pair)

Shutter glasses will not work with Red/Green 3D, just as Red/Green glasses will not work with modern 3D. The shutter speed of the glasses must match that of the monitor as well, so if you stole glasses from the movie theatre, it won't work.

Yeah um what movie theater are you going to that uses shutter glasses? They use polarization. Also, anaglyph (Red/Green or other color combos) is not out dated per se, I wouldn't say its superior but its relatively common format that shouldn't be ignored in this context as I assume on his computer hes looking at anaglyph images as thats what you usually find on the internet. Anaglyph is also what is used when you buy a 3D dvd for home viewing.

ok thanks guys, I did not realise that 3d had moved on so much from when I was a teen and watched Jaws in 3d

BTW ..I did not steal the glasses lol ..we all had to pay an extra £1.00 on top of the movie entrance fee
