SEO People: Dynamic meta tags and description - does this make sense? - GoFuckYourself.com

my programmer built a function that automatically creates meta tags and description based on the content and they change whenever a new update appears. does this make sense? or should i rather stick to the static stuff?

mmm well lets see... if you are 100% sure of the keywords you are targeting per page (including the home page) I don't see how having dynamic meta-tags would help. Well unless you want to incorporate DKI based on SERP queries, but my guess is that you are not thinking of doing something like that; and even if that was the case you would only need to append the data to your existing meta info instead of having the whole thing refresh based on your updates...

Sure it is cool as far as SEO to have a site which seems to get updated constantly but for specific pages and targeted KW stuff on your home page (metas) it would be rather counterproductive

Forgot to mention... if you have in mind populating your site and then have meta-desc dynamically generated based on the content you enter on a page/post then you dont need to have custom scripts; AIOSEO already does that...

Bullshit. As long as the tags are relevant and should be unique for each page you are OK. If the content keeps on changing and the tags do at the same time that can HELP as fresh relevant fast loading content is king.

As long as there are other changes to those pages along with the meta tags, there should be no issue. It is like an update. If it is doing it daily or hourly, SE's may have an issue.

hmmm, what i can do is a combination of both - have some static, site relevant keywords and description and dynamic additions that change with each update on the tour... make sense?

if you're adding text with every update, that's actually probably a better solution than changing the meta tags to match it. keep the metas somewhat static, and make sure the updated text has the keywords you want. text on the page has weight too. spiders will catch it.

MA.. go to google.. ( Its your friend ) and search the terms you want to be listed for.. Look at and study the sites in the top spots and see what they do over a period of time.

You should realize real fast what I mean.

i just wanted to add that (imho) the meta description shouldn't be used for seo (as google gives little to zero weight) - but for improving CTR and pre-selling purposes.. it should be a well-written piece of marketing text and definitely not dynamic.
