My basement is up to 8" of water so far...

...and based on radar images it appears that the rain will not be letting up anytime soon.

4" of rain had fallen by 3 PM and it has been down pouring ever since.

I am a mile or so inland but people on the water -- including some of my family -- are having much bigger problems.

WOW, so sorry to hear that man. We have had the hottest summer here in LA, 117 the other day in Downtown which is unheard of.

Are they making you guys evacuate?

After just going through it I'd say hit the nearest hardware store or Walmart and get some pumps and blowers immediately. They'll be in short supply real quick.

It has finally stopped raining.

Family says the pier is underwater but they are otherwise fine... most houses are built up on hills for that reason ... I'm sure there are plenty of low lying houses but I do not personally know people in any.

The flooding happened in my house because I have a walk-in basement with a concrete stairwell in the ground and the water was building up there too quickly and overwhelmed the drain. I'm pretty sure that is the extend of the flooding for most people except downtown, but they are used to such floods and the city usually sandbags in time. I will get out and survey the damage tomorrow.

Could have been a lot worse if it didn't stop. High tide might be a problem for some.

I'm in Annapolis, Maryland, 30 minutes outside of DC.

I'm glad you are ok. We are getting tons of rain on the coast. Schools closed and the power went off a bunch of times yesterday. Hopefully things stay dry for the next couple days.

Sorry to hear about the rising waters You'd think being so far inland would protect you more! Good luck with the cleanup!
