Users?
lol... that's stupid.. you must sue OWNERS.. not users... You obviously don't have a clue about what's going on, Steven... you also made the poll public, SS practice? Did you know that Blockbuster filled for Bankruptcy? Same as MGM. One new Blockbuster store is closing it's doors EVERY SINGLE DAY all around the world. ADAPT OR DIE, right? That's the right-wing Darwinist Slogan. . |

![]() I feel a lot of the opposition to what Steve is doing is born out of a fear that it works and they find themselves on a list of pirates getting letters. |

By the same logic someone opposed to the war in Afghanistan is a terrorist scared they could be attacked next.

I don't care if they get embarrassed about being pirates, don't care if they are embarrassed into paying and will whoop for joy when the same name comes up time after time. Because if this escalates as I predict, the plaintiffs might be sharing information. The "Letter" might come from more than plaintiff and be more than $500. Or the same person might think he's on a mailing list of lawyers defending content owners. ![]() |

I predict without a big change most here will be gone, this board and many others will be gone, there will be no need for many affiliates if any. Because the cost against the return will be negligible. The industry will be taken over by a few of the companies who are now giving porn away to take the traffic. They will stop giving it away and start giving people the option of buying or looking at short clips. They will spend money fighting those who pirate them and make sure companies like AFF don't advertise on the new pirates. It's called business. Those in it today can do something about it of like Damian give in. And stick their asses in the air. Is this monkey called Damian? ![]() |

Do everyone a huge favor and don't call it a 'war on piracy.'
We have actual wars going on with people dying. This may be important but it is not a war. It belittles the people fighting in real war to trivialize the term with idiotic notion of war like a war on drugs or piracy or anything else. Also, you will carry more weight with a more positive underlying message. Nobody is anti abortion or pro abortion. People are ardently pro life or pro choice. At the end of the day this is a marketing effort. You are trying to sell the public on the notion that people deserve to earn a living for working hard and producing a product worth owning rather than having it stolen from them. To answer your poll, I support Publishers Rights, I support Pay To Play, I support Honest Income and many other sensible slogans for this long overdue campaign. I do not support calling it a 'war on piracy.' Don't let criminals get to sound like cool pirates (that's a name they chose for themselves with some mystique). Don't trivialize War. The guy who stole your movie and uploaded it is not a strong swordsman captaining a ship bound for adventure - he is a 36 year old criminal stealing from a store owner the same way he would if he went to a hardware store and ripped off a few 20s from the cash register. We don't call people who steal from a local store pirates, we call them criminals, thieves, scumbags, shoplifters, a burden on society etc... Controlling the narrative will be critical to your success. Good luck |

You have to evolve. If your tour content isn't better than what's on the tubes, then how do you expect to sell a new membership?
Brand all your content. Do you know HOW many signups brazzers.com gets a day?! Steve used to get hundreds, if not a 1000 free signups a day from typin traffic. All his pictures were branded and spammed on every single yahoo group in the world. The tube site is the evolution of that. Most tube sites have SHITTY quality clips...most. Beat the pirates at their own game. I can upload a clip, get 100,000 views in 2 days, probably 1 to 3 signups from typin traffic, and 150 to 400 clicks on a banner and 1 to 3 signups from that. DO THAT ALL DAY LONG, AND HAVE HD IN MEMBER SECTION. Sell quality, raise the bar, give people the best you can encode, stop being lazy bastards and suing people like little bitches. |

This is my take on tube sites:
Keep it under 10 minutes, a low bit rate. Have 'something' be an upsell. These full length places that look like a 80 to 90% quality dvd rip, is bad. There should be a general sense of uniformity with standards amonst tube owners. It's harder and harder to sell advertising on these sites, and buying it surely is retarded, You never make 1/2 your money back unless you are a cam site or dating, in my opinion. When the advertisers are gone and you can't convert anything under 1 in 30,000 its a problem. All the little tricks stop working after awhile. These surfers have a PHD in NOBUYOLOGY. It's a tough grind that's for sure. Every tube site should be an affiliate to 300+ programs and WORK WITH each company to make sure everyone is on the same page. Have a way to remove the unwanted content easily. Program owners should burn all OLD content on the tube sites and have the fresh updates in the member's area. This way EVERYONE makes money. |

I am not so naive to think "piracy can be stopped" any more than I think people will not take drugs anymore. However, win enough skirmishes, defend successfully against enough ambushes, and carry the day on enough battles and you can say that the effort is worth it... even in spite of the bloodletting and carnage and scarring that goes with the effort.

If he wants to repair the damage done to his retirement plans by holding the little fucks responsible who stole his content, then what's wrong with that? I do have respectful disagreement with Steve as far as tactics, but on overall philosophy (making thieves pay) I'm with him. |

But Lightspeed doesn't have sufficient evidence to prove the people he is sending the quasi-blackmail letters to are the "little fucks responsible". This is the issue I have. And a judge in England agreed with me: http://www.thelawyer.com/judge-dismi...006420.article ACS:Law have been playing this blackmail game for about 5 years in the UK. Not a single case has gone to court, until recently. The lawyers trying to pull this trick Lightspeed has 'borrowed' had their case thrown out of court by the judge and are now facing a committee hearing in March where it seems likely they will be disbarred. I know this is in England, but I reckon the American legal system isn't far behind. Hope that helps clarify things. |
