http://www.rasmussenreports.com/publ...artisan_trends

Numbers of Democrats at record low, but also Republican levels dropping as well
I guess more and more people are registering independent?

think about that

little misleading since they have only been tracking it for 8 years. However, I do not exactly raise my head and shout to the world that I am a democrat either.... its embarrassing

my boyfrend was registered republican, for a while now he's independent after talking about for like 10 years.

Not far fetched to think people are tired of parties, and given that no third parties ever make it anywhere independent seems like the only alternative

Ya know what its says to me? Wanna know? well I will tell you any way

it tells me that the Democratic party has done what it always does which is be pathetic and weak. on a playground these would be the kids sporting pocket protectors, thick glasses with tape on the bridge and slicked back with VO5 and a pair of highwater trousers 6 inches above their ankle...........pussies plain and simple. These are the kids you cheat off of on test but would NEVER be considered 'leaders'

Obama talked good shit, got everyone fired up and as soon as he won he bent over, dropped trou and spread for a good old fashioned redneck prison date.

I will agree with the right on one thing.... the democrats and the country deserve what is coming this way in Nov

I had read a little while back that people are becoming registered independents at a rate of 2:1 over one of the other parties. This included both people registering for the first time and people changing their affiliation from one of the parties to independent.

The democrats had a the chance to really strike a blow against the republicans and they failed. They had all three houses, a super majority and a new president that won in a landslide and was very popular. Had they come up with a solid plan to help the economy and get the country back on track they could have really hurt the republicans. The republicans were in shambles after the election and were pointing fingers and splintering off in different directions. The republicans then chose the strategy of No. They just said "no" to everything the democrats wanted. Had the democrats come up with a good plan and turned things around that "no" plan would have backfired on the republicans they would still be reeling. Instead, as it seems both parties do, the got bloated and corrupt fast and used their majority to push through everything they had dreamed about for the last 30 years. Then 2 years later decided maybe they needed to pay more attention to the economy. It almost seems like they look back and are now shocked at how much they have spent.

The sad things is even if the republicans win both houses back not much is likely to change. We will probably just see gridlock in washington as both parties work towards the 2012 election.

It depends. I the primary elections most states only allow party members to vote in their election. So if you are a registered democrat you can only vote during the democratic primary, not the republican primary (although some states have open primaries where anyone can vote for any candidate).

When the primaries are over and it is time for the general election you can vote for anyone you want regardless of party.

They full control for about a year, could have done anything they wanted and spent the entire time on a healthcare law when no one is working. Obama did talk a good game and still does, he's a very good speaker. He gets bills passed, but most are bad bills with no thinking involved, it's like lets pass it now and worry about whats in it later

Because of Bush I changed to independent. The GOP dropped the ball with the wars, so the democrats took over in 06 and they dropped the ball even further, now we're getting right wing hopfulls that would not have a chance to get in there with their social agenda if not for the fear the people have for fucking up even worse. Right now, generally speaking, no one cares about social issues, they want the economy to turn around and no more spending. Even Obama passed the pay n go thing, but after he signed a huge spending bill.
