Verizon FiOS + TiVo & Cable Card = Problems?

Not sure if anyone has a TiVo +FiOS service and having problems, but its pretty common from what I hear. I spent the last few weeks going through the headaches of WTF is wrong with my TiVo.

Today, I was at my breaking point. Shit is just getting fucked up all around and a new TiVo I got does not work either!!! I can watch about 10-20 minutes then it freezes. Plugged it in to different outlets, used different connection pieces, even had Verizon come out and install a new cable card ($80 bill I had to sallow).

This evening I was at my wits end with TiVo and called in once more before I just said "fuck it" and give up on ever using one of their boxes.

Within seconds the guy I speak to diagnosis the problem. Took him about 10 minutes to read over all my notes and he joked about how many people I've spoke to. Heres the problem... Verizon jacks up their signal strength in the lines (coaxial cables), so the decibel level is around 37 to 40. Problem is TiVo can't handle more than 35DB!

How do you fix it? By buying a $5.99 coaxial attenuator and plugging it into the cable before it gets to your TiVo.

Trust me, its extremely frustrating to deal with and neither Verizon or TiVo support each other. Feels like a victory for me, but now have 10 other things I'm trying to deal with that will hopefully work themselves out too
