OK which one of you launched a missile in LA vid

Saw this on the news and find it real funny that the military/government knows nothing about it.

When a missile gets launched 35 miles off our coast and the Gov and military just shrug their shoulders and calmly say we don't know what it was.

They are the ones behind it.

They're saying now that it's just a plane taking off or something to that effect.

They had some " expert " on TV this morning saying that

I live close enough to the cape here in Florida to see all the launches just by stepping outside and I've watch many over the years. I also live close to two international airports.

There is no way that thing in the video is an airplane and them saying that is an insult to the general public's intelligence

Missiles dont launch from mid-air. Missiles dont travel slowly. Missles dont change direction. It's a plane contrail being seen from an odd angle. Posted it up yesterday. The news is dragging it out because they can, but they all know the answer.

Oh I forgot, it's also travelling east, inland. Anything go boom yesteday in the midwest united states? Or maybe we were attacking area 51? lol

I am sure it could have been a plane as PR_Tom points out. But I knew a guy who was really into rocketry when I lived in oHIo and he had a couple rockets that were in excess of 20 feet tall. I could see him launching one of those bad boys and it looking exactly like that. But he always got clearance from the FAA when he launched.

I got to watch one of them take off and it was truly incredible

Like I said, I watched numerous launches off the cape and that looks EXACTLY like a rocket or shuttle launch. The contrail looks EXACTLY like that. The apparent perpendicular position to the horizon as it goes up is EXACTLY like a rocket or shuttle launch.

A plane's contrail goes across the sky, not perpendicular to the horizon. A plane's contrail doesn't form or dissipate like the one in the video. it's much smaller and more subtle.

And lastly, if it was a plane, who's was it and why didn't LAX identify it on radar?

North Korea was firing rockets over Japan recently, it looks just a show of force by the USA. Wait until the Death Star comes out.

where's the rocket engine flare? as you have seen numerous cape launches, you are aware of how extremely visible the flare is.

I hate it when people make duplicate threads, especially when they are on the first page. I always make an effort to see if what I'm about to post has already been posted. I checked the first page for this topic and was surprised to not see it. I don't know how I missed yesterdays thread but I did.

I'll drop this one and remember my mistake the next time someone else does it

I've watched rockets designed to enter space and yes they have an awesome fireball. Watching a shuttle night launch is awesome.

I've never seen a missile launched or fired so I'm not familiar with one's engine flare.

it's not as extreme but it's very visible. now i am not saying it was not an lcbm, if it was, it could of been fired in error then a communicated flameout. but my apartment's view is of this exact area, i missed it yesterday as i was at my workplace, but the contrails i see often look bizarre, out of the ordinary.

I watched the video I posted again and it looks like engine flare at the :43 and 1:00 mark.
I suppose you could argue that it's the sun reflecting but I'm not buying that

I wonder if this launch is related to this story:

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6A84GD20101110

There was a fire reported on board a Carnival cruise ship off the coast of California near San Diego, and the Nuclear Power USS Ronald Reagan Aircraft carrier (armed), along with Helicopters, is bringing supplies to the cruise liner and escorting it back to shore.

I'm no conspiracy nut but this is kind of interesting..

If it was off the coast, then it was the Navy, my daughter just left the Ronald Reagan, most of their missles don't fire straight up, they have them for defense. Might have come from a Submarine, they all have tomahawks now but they don't launch like that. ICBM coming from submarines do look like that, maybe a Ohio class submarine

i mentioned in the thread yesterday there are checks and balances required prior to launching icbm missiles. no country can fire one off without prior notification. that being said, this could of been fired in error but i do not know how the launch sequence works so am unsure as to the viability of that.

This contrail is no more vertical than the road is, and nor are the power lines at 45 degrees. Everything is horizontal ? it?s the just the angle you are viewing it from. All of these show horizontal contrails.

Secondly there?s the misconception of direction, that it?s flying away from the viewer, when it?s actually flying towards the viewer. This is because the ?base? of the contrail seems wider than the tip. Perspective tells the brain that this mean the base is closer. But actually you can see the base has been greatly spread by the wind. Since it?s so far away the effects of perspective are greatly diminished, meaning the actual width of the contrail is what is creating the illusion. Imagine if a plane with a 100 mile long spreading contrail were coming towards you; what would it look like? It would look exactly like this.

Thirdly there?s the idea that it goes all the way down to the ground. Now that might be true if the Earth was flat, but the Earth is round, and things go beneath the horizon eventually, no matter how high they are. A plane 200 miles away but five miles up is always below the horizon. If the horizon is raised (as it is here, with Catalina Island), then the distance is less. Here?s some math:

This diagram is not to scale, but the math is the same regardless. The solid curved line is the surface of the earth. The dot at the top is San Clemente. The little triangle is Catalina. ?d? is the distance to Catalina (d=35 miles). ?c? the amount of Catalina that is visible above the horizon (c=0.05 miles, really a bit more, but let?s be conservative). ?a? is the altitude of the plane, (a = 6 miles). ?r? is the radius of the earth (r=3963 miles).

The green wavy line is the contrail. Notice it?s at a fixed height above the surface of the earth, and is going directly towards the OC.

The point labeled (0,0) is the center of the earth. (0,0) means X=0, Y=0, where X is horizontal and Y is vertical. What we want to know is how far away the plane is, the value x. We do this with cartesian geometry, noting that the lowest visible point of the trail is at the intersection of the dotted line, which is a circle of radius (r+a), hence the equation x^2 + y^2 = (r+a)^2 and the line labeled ?sight line?, which is has the equation y=r+x*c/d. Combining these equations to solve for x yields a quadratic equation, which we can solve with Wolfram Alpha:

intersection of (y=r+x*c/d) and (x^2+y^2 = (r+a)^2)

and with the real numbers:

intersection of (y=r+x*c/d) and (x^2+y^2 = (r+a)^2) where a=6 and d=35 and c=0.05 and r=3963

Which gives x = 212, meaning that the bottom of the contrail is around 200 miles away. So if the front of the contrail (the actual aircraft) is somewhere above and behind catalina, then that means the contrail is over 100 miles long. At 500 mph, that means it could have formed in 12-15 minutes, which seems consistent with an aircraft

My submarine only had subrocs and harpoons for missles, They didn't like that, I was on a fast attack submarine and saw footage of shots we made.
There are war games going on off the coast of California as I found on one webpage

If there is a carrier in the Sandiego area that means the battle group is not far behind. Usually in fact within 7 miles. So that means at least 2 if not 4 subs. and that contrail comes from 35 Miles off shore. hmmmm...

Aliens caused it.

1) Press conference in Washington, D.C. last month featured Air Force officers detailing how UFOs were increasingly being spotted over SAC bases -- and deactivating nukes -- these weren't idiots, but base commanders and other senior officers claiming a cover up.

2) Earlier this month, news reports surfaced about a severing of communications between nukes at one base and their controllers (like "E.T.", U.S. warheads "call home"). For a period of time, a never-before-encountered "malfunction" left those birds unlaunchable.

3) Now this.

Whether it's aliens, commies or al Qaeda, something uber serious is attacking our biggest national assets and the truth is being (HAS to be) covered up. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but this whole "contrail cover up" is one more link in a very disturbing chain, IMHO...

It was one of ours, but we simply can't look that incompetent / vulnerable

The video was shot from a news helicopter which for the sake of this argument I'm going to assume was flying relatively level. At the :32 sec mark the camera is aimed in a way that shows both land and sky with a level horizon. The aircraft in question is moving from the horizon up.

You can visually see the aircraft with the contrail forming directly behind it.

There is no way you could visually see the aircraft and have an intact contrail that reached to the horizon. It would have broken up long before that. There is just too much distance for those to lines to intersect.

Whatever it might be it originated a few miles off the California coast and took flight at sea level.

on a submarine, there is a back up for every back up. Codes have to be entered, protocols like you wouldn't believe for everything

think about that

I heard someone mention that it could've been a missile launch from a private company or whatever.

It is possible for a private company to launch a missile without some kind of clearance from the FAA or government/military?
