Dedicated server with tons of unexplained sites on them
I recently did a search of one of my domain names that is on a dedicated server and about 65 additional sites came up... of course all adult.
I used this site... http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/we...on-web-server/ Problem is I have mainstream sites on this server and company website blockers by IT have flagged and blocked my sites. Can you guys use the above link on sites that are on your dedicated server and let me know if any others came up not on your server? Any reason why I should doubt the validity of yougetsignal.com? How are these larger companies filtering what sites they block and which the allow? Do they check the host themselves and determine? I would think doesn't matter what host, just the server, but still does not explain why I was notified about the block by companies and then first googled url I get to to check reverse site IP and server and 65 sites I don't own come up on my IP/ dedicated server. My server tech support provided me another link to trace the route but at this point it does not matter because only reason I'm checking is because my site has already been flagged by some companies and reason why I'm checking. So there responses are inconsequential to what has happened and i'm trying to figure out why 65 sites, not mine, appeared to be pointing towards my ip/server. Any help is appreciated. |

What is your server IP? It's very weird that dedicated server uses a shared IP address.

1. box could be hacked. => have the box wiped and reinstalled.
2. hosting company could be scamming you. => get another host. 3. most likely: that site is crap and is returning sites that used to use the IP you are now using before you started using it. |

That site is way off. I am 110% certain I have a dedicated server and know which sites are on which IP. I just did a search on one of my domains and the results included both the domian.com and www.domain.com version of my site on that dedicated IP, as well as a site I've never heard of.
I did a whois on the site I've never heard of and the IP it is actually on is NOWHERE near mine. |

update: ok tested that site with a couple of my domains and all I can say is: that site is crap.
"It appears that the web server located at blabhablha" It returns the correct IP and then lists a couple of sites using that IP and 2 site son totally different IP's.. |

It's easiest to just get a new clean IP. Oddly I just discovered that this site thinks one of my servers hosts a Fortune 500 (Actually within the top 50) company's main website.

I checked the link you provided and all the sites listed at my server are my own.

Ok, it nailed the first two servers, but on the third server it listed a bunch of sites that I know are not on it.
Testing server #4: Got that one right, too. So is this site fucked, or do I have to waste my evening trying to fix server 3? Fuck me. Edit: I've already come to the conclusion that the site is innacurate. |

So the site is sometimes inaccurate, what now? Is the host deemed adult and therefore coming up as flags with some IT scrubs?
I lost a client because of this... found out earlier today because IT department said my sites had sex in them. Is it the previous sites on a particular IP, the host, what site names you may have not developed? On this server no reason for 65 porn sites to come up and I got flagged by a companies IT department scrub. So sites are off... but seems very strange. When I asked my host the first. ###.##.###. was identical, |

You know what i'm saying though.. right? My mainstream site on a dedicated server got flagged for porn and I decided to research and the url was the first hit on google. So it doesn't matter if it is inaccurate, my site got flagged anyway and now I'm asking is it the host you should be weary of if you have non-adult sites on a host known for hosting adult?
