My Old Soundclick Page (MP3)
Rofl. I forgot I had songs on Sound Click. When I was setting up my studio a few years ago, I used Soundclick to post a few rough song demos. They're still there.
If you want to have a listen, they're all rough headphone mixes and the vocals hadn't yet been recorded. Most ikely, this isn't going to entertain you young pups much. Shits and giggles: Garce on Soundclick |

listened to the first bit of Saras Decline and quickly paused it because it brought my mind back to Children of the Damned, so I had to find it and listen to the live after death version

I used to deal with this guy who I had never heard of at the time. Turns out he was pretty big up in Canada in the 70s. He had some great stories.
Greg Godovitch was his name. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goddo |

Last I heard he's more interested in his radio work and playing Beatles covers with Carpet Frogs. Don't know if that's still going on, though. |

I used to be a memorabilia buyer for Hard Rock Cafe, but that was about 12 years ago now...I'm pretty sure he was knee deep in Beatles stuff, so that would make sense.
I like a good rock and roll story. Greg had hundreds of them. |

I appreciate the comment. Thank you. BTW - that song fucking kills. If I could sing like Halford, I might have had a bit more success. |

Last few times I talked to him he was cool, but in the 70s - 80s the guy was an insufferable prick. |

Last time I talked to him was tight after his book was published. I remember one night at the old Rock and Roll Heaven at Bay and Bloor, Greg stumbled - wasted - onto the stage and tried to take my guitar to "jam" with the band. Around 92 or 93. I almost smashed the living fuck out of the midget that night.

ROFL! I have posted about my "relationship" with Lee Aaron here before. I went to public school with the bass player in that video. Jack Meli. He had that same perm in our grade 8 graduation picture.

I vaguely remember seeing her live once, if I remember right she was wearing super tight black spandex pants, some dude in the crowd brought her a rose up to the stage and gave it to her, I remember thinking she looked seriously hot, I wasn't sober though

She used to change her outfits on stage behind a backlit screen. She was ridiculously hot. Insane.

I know these guys, too. "Darrel Dwarf" was my ex-drummer's house-mate for a long time. They shared a house on Draper St. By Coxwell. Just south of McDonalds.
Darrel had a fucking hot girlfriend who used to dance at the Brass Rail. I can't remember her name but she was sweet. Russ was a good guy. I had the same management as the Dwarfs for a number of yeras. |

If you're going to continue to post Toronto based 80's metal bands, can we get some songs that weren't recording at Metalworks? Please? Worst studio in the city. Phase One and Comfort Sound (a brilliant studio) are both so much better.

I'm heading to bed - I'm old and its late.
Once last hint before I sleep: A very famous bass player jammed on this track: Once Upon a Time An old man with a big old Fender Precision. Actually, he is the one who reminded me I had an old Soundclick account earlier tonight. He got in touch with me when he found out I'd "deleted" my Facebook account. Goo memories there. Goodnight all. Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends. Its sleepy time for me and I am in a rare fantastic mood. God bless you, Bill! |

Not Geddy. The "old man" in question was (at the time) recently retired, and came to Toronto with his young bride to hang out with a certain band that was rehearsing at the Masonic Temple, and to catch his old mates at Sunnyside Pavillion. The night I first met him, my band was playing at The Stone's Club on Queen St. West. A very corrupt bar ran by a wealthy, pathetic, drug-addled poseur. Used to rip us off for the door by letting people come in through the basement while we were on stage. Ended up costing him a lot of money.
I heard Rush for the first time when they played my high school - R.H King. I first met Geddy and Alex at The Orbit Room in the mid-nineties - I had a freind who used to grab illicit substances from the boozecan that Fat Rick ran above the plumbing store at College and Dovercourt. As for Neil Peart, the guitar player I worked with for over 20 years (and still one of my best friends) is married (common law) to Neil's cousin. Or maybe she's his sister-in-law. I'm not getting that specific. There was a LOT of heartache in that family when Neil's life fell apart. So much undeserved tragedy. The Toronto music scene is very incestuous - which is a sad way to fail. Everyone knows everyone but no-one makes any real money. Best decision I ever made was to stop touring. The band I used to play with is now running a show called Classic Albums Live. A great show - great guys. I had no interest in learning classic albums note for note, so I passed on the invitation. That concept was created at The Left Bank on Queen St. I had to pass. I didn't realize it would be so successful ![]() P.S. Although this piost is already overly long, you'll find that most of Toronto's real musically and comedic talent was born in ar around Scarborough - the rock and roll capitol of Canada. |

Not because he's white guy playing in a black man's world - I played for Liberty ilver when I was 16, so I know what it feels like to be out of your league. I have no advice for that guy besides suggesting her move to Texas or Alabama and get a good feel for Southern rock. Rap is out of my field of expertise. I cannot offer any advice. |
