Fossil records have nothing to do with it. Just because evolution is a proven fact, it doesn't mean there is no god like thing out there doing godly things. Seriously. You can't get something from nothing, there is something out there that has always existed. That thing might be some type of god or something.

He didn't say it was god, he said something is omnipresent and who knows, maybe it is a godly thing. Evolution doesn't disprove a godly power, it disproves the Christian fairy tale. There could still be some godly driving force behind creation, at least while using evolution as your defense. The fact that evolution happened doesn't really disprove anything on either side of the Atheism argument. Show me where I have ever said that there is not a God. I don't know of many atheists who deny that maybe there is some kind of supreme being. We also know that it's just as likely that we were blinked into existence by a giant plate of pasta or maybe the universe was just always here. If people consider God a plausible explanation then they should consider all other explanations equally plausible.

It's true, I loathe religion. I hate willful ignorance. I hate the notion of a God because when someone invokes the idea of a supreme being, science comes to a halt. For ages evolution couldn't be taught in schools despite there being rock-solid proof that it's real. Why? The bible said God created man so case closed. The same goes for the origins of the universe. The bible says 7 days. "In the beginning..."

Medicine has been held back because of religion. Laws are passed by people who have an imaginary friend. In our society it is considered a positive trait that one goes to church and lives their lives according to a book that I am positive is fiction. That scares the shit out of me so admittedly I get a little militant about it.

Look back in history you can easily see the trend is away from fundamentalism not towards and has been for a very long time. It's a slow process obviously but the article may explain why it's taking so long though, its an uphill fight.
