Yup, this is hardly Canada's fail, more like lawyer fail, which could and does happen in every country of the world. Greedy inept lawyers are hardly indigenous to Canada.

Like you said, bad luck on your part, nothing more.

I have a cousin in the US who met a Canadian guy over the internet and they later decided to get married. They tried getting her into Canada first, and then also tried getting him in the US. Guess which way ended up working for them the easiest and fastest?

A: They are now happily married and together living in the US.

So in reading Quiet's posts I can so relate to what he's going through.

Sounds like the immigration process worked flawlessly in this instance. Enjoy Europe!

how long have you been there? you are going to be there for awhile i assume? have you been to Banff or Lake Louise yet, it's only 2 hours to Banff, a little bit longer to Louise. snowboarding/skiing, hit up Sunshine or Lake Louise (I like Louise better, but Sunshine has a longer season). If you're cool with spending a night, come up to Fernie. The snow is epic right now. its around a 4 hour drive though.

hiking... nothing can top Banff. There are so many awesome day hikes, don't even get me started. basic but fun short hike is tunnel mountain (be sure to right to the top, a lot of people don't realize it goes up further, wicked view). a little harder is sulfur mountain. sulfur is cool because at the top you can have lunch and a brew, and just take the gondola down if you don't feel like the hike down. hardcore, mount rundle. super hardcore, cascade mountain.

Sorry Dis70,

But Kiopa_Matt is exactly right. It sounds like your immigration lawyer doesn't know what he's doing. (Is he American or Canadian?). If you like, ICQ me and I'll send you the name of an excellent Canadian immigration lawyer that may be able to help you.

Long story short, The Canadian government wants you to be someone with (a) an in-demand skill set that hard to find in Canada, and (b) is likely to pay taxes forever. Web designers probably don't cut it because in reality, everyone is a web designer these days. They are easily found in Canada and even if they're not, can be hired to work from home anywhere in the world.

Quick question for you: Why do you want to Live in Canada? Canada is my home and I love it, but there's alot of it that sucks too. Taxes are insane, winters are freaking cold, crime in some cities like Vancouver is out of control, provinces like Quebec force you to read, write, speak and think in french, etc.

If you're in a position to live where you want to live, why not somewhere south where its warm? Your work is all online so you can live anywhere you want to. Why not keep it simple?

Got here in July. I am planning on staying a while. Thanks for the info. Any advice on COP? I hear it may be a good place to take my daughter to learn how to snowboard.

COP is good for a day out, and good for the city. If you can afford the time & money though, definitely goto Sunshine or Lake Louise. Stay away from Norquay (sp), as it's for the more advanced skiers.

Everyone has their own likes, but personally, I always enjoyed Sunshine much more. Mainly because Lake Louise is right at the parking lot, whereas with Sunshine you need to take a 20 - 30 minute gondola ride to get to the hill. Used to live in Canmore, and we had season passes to Sunshine, which was perfect. We'd head out two or three times a week, and once you got off the gondola is was like you were in a different world for the day, especially once you're off the chair lift and on top of the mountain.

Was great. Bust my ass behind the computer, and there was no better stress reliever than that. Fuck, now I want to go skiing.

COP is pretty bland, but a really good place for a kid to learn to ride. we had season's passes to both Louise and Sunshine for the three 3 years we lived there, and we mostly ended up riding louise. I love the back side, extremely remote, but you can still hit the bar/rest on that side. tons of great out of bounds/earn your turns areas on the backside as well. Norquay sucks pretty much, but they do have night riding/skiing, and i suppose it's the closest mountain, but that's the only time we'd ever go there (night skiing).

I did not red all the reply so if it's been said sorry

I've been able to get work permit for a web designer for the job number 4 :

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/itw-jobs.asp

Once you get approved by the canadian immigration, you don't need the province approval, you just go and pickup the work permit at a border.

Good luck, hope all will be good for you

Your first mistake is wanting to move to Canada. That is a fail. Unless you actually have no skills and work ethic and intend on going straight on welfare and using the system to your advantage, there is no point in moving to the cold, hostile and bitter country called Canada.

Agreed. I left Canada over 10 years ago. I've lived all over the world. Something only very fortunate people can do, people that work for themselves. To tie yourself down in Canada is rediculous. Might sound great to a foreigner, but its cold as fuck, the summers are dominated by black flies and mosquitos, taxes are insane, everything is super expensive like Western Europe and is getting higher and higher now that the Canadian dollar is so strong, the girls are bitchy and for the most part ugly and everybody seems miserable all the time for these above reasons.

The only good thing about Canada is the passport. However, if they made me pay taxes to keep it (like the US), I'd probably give it up.

My point exactly. In celcius, anything under 22, I consider chilly if theres a breeze.

Out of all the places in Canada, Winnepeg has gotta be the worst place to live. Unless you are an eskimo, I don't understand why anybody lives there?

Its possible I don't know, I've never been to Fernie, although I lived in BC (Vancouver) and hated it. My opinion on Fernie is coming from googling it and not seeing all that much to do. I guess if you ski everyday its pretty cool, but I hate the cold, so probably not for me.

This is exactly why I left Canada and went to the US. At least here, if you fuck up, you end up homeless. In Canada, if you fuck up, no matter, the GOV'T will pay for you (ie, the people that didn't fuck up).

In the US, if you make it, it's all you - if you fuck up, it's all you.

Where you declined only for the reason of having the wrong occupation? Or did you not meet their "point system" - you know, points for having a degree etc.
As long as you meet that criteria, it should be possible to immigrate. You just need to meet their criteria first and give them a reason to let you in. In the two years that you have been waiting to get in you could have gotten some simple bachelor degree on the side.

Moving to Canada would be trading one hell for another. Why not travel the world and spend your money doing that instead of rooting yourself again?

I have met all the criterias ( education, language, money, i had more then then points then its required_ , but due to the fact my occupation was not in the NOC i should have had an arragement employemnt ready, one company tried to make ti for me and failed. Bad luck was, my application was sent prior to this NOC cut, so they noticed i was applying as a web designer and then changed to system manager

Well I guess since you Googled it that would make you an expert!!

Well. Wrong. You are fucking wrong. You, Canadian, can not understand that with your passporte you can travel whenever you want and easily stay just opening a company, or just take a flight/ride to another country. You need no visas.

I am stuck in here, i can not just move to another country, they require return tickets, full stay hotels paid and cut visa jsut for that exact term.

I can understand that living in a country of plenty you somehow forgot about benefits you are getting, while in Ukraine people liev for $120 month because this corrupted government is uding us natrually. I don't say Canada is perfect but for many its a ticket to freedom, the way to have average job for the rest of their lives, to fucking nurse your old parents finally.

You dont know a bit about Ukraine.

you make some good points Sid, some things are relative, comparing pure dollars to dollars is not always a total picture, your internet service for one is probably superior to most Canadians' home internet service and you are probably paying way less per month for it. having a roof over one's head, and enough food to eat, these things cost more in Canada, so you have to earn more to have the same basic things to survive, many people work hard in Vancouver and barely cover their rent and food for the month, and owning a house is an impossible dream for most (and if you do manage to finance into one, it turns into a lifetime of slavery to mortgage payments and utitlities). probably 90% of Canadians don't travel anywhere anyways, other than maybe a trip to the states or mexico a few times in their lifetime.

I know of immigrants that were unhappy in their home country, and then after a year in Canada are unhappy in Canada too. I sympathize with your comments about government, it is a hard time for transition and corruption is a problem more in some countries than others. I think if I have a warm flat to live in and good internet service and computer, and good quality food to eat, not have to work too hard for it, I should be happy.

Best of luck to you in fulfilling your dreams

If you aren't full filling a job that is needed here than the immigration process worked correctly.

If you are an immigrant and not in a needed position and you come here you will be taking jobs from Canadian citizens. Canadian citizens should always get first priority and I 100% believe that no immigrants should be allowed in the same or similar competing field.

Countries should be more about their own citizens to much globalism is bad and I'm glad they have these safe guards in place.

If you 100% care about going you should be making the steps to get a degree in a "really" needed job. That will fast track your process and almost guarantee your entry.

It is not Canada's fault the way your country is.

Well someone, somewhere, any time a law is passed missed it by just a few days.

Law doesn't make exceptions that's why it is called law. It is not Canada's fault you missed it it is 100% your fault.

Is Canada in high demand for people with a "Management Studies" degree? I would think not but I could be wrong. (or else they would let you in)

If Canada is going down the shitter the last thing we need is more immigrants taking jobs from locals. Seems the system is working. I'm actually surprised.

Explain to me how it is "Canada's fail" that you do not fit the qualifications to be here? that is what i am trying to understand.

I wish you the best of luck. But I am looking at facts of the system. I still wish you luck in getting here. Unless of course I all of a sudden need a web design job and immigrants are taking them up. See how it is give and take for locals?
